Bike looks great, really like the aluminum tank- it's funny how good some of the free mods look. What rotors do you have- how much and where'd you get them? I love seeing builds and pics like this. It gives me so many good (or bad, depending on my wallet condition) ideas. Thanks for sharing.

Love what you did! Ditchin' the red wheels was unavoidable...although I admire the bravery it took to try!

About stripping the tank: Is that something a semi-talented do-it-yourselfer could succeed at? I really like how yours ended up, but the idea of applying the first smidgen of paint stripper makes my balls shrink:rolleyes:

Yes it's easy, I am also only semi-talented and have never done it before:)

Did you see on Ebay there is a Marchesini Forged Mag set with the carbon brakes? My dream setup, but for a 1198!
No, have not see it

The rotors are Sicom, their distribution warehouse is less then 10min away from us, have them on our Diavel as well, front & rear. For the 1199 the fronts with pads retail for just under 3K, I am still waiting for the rear rotor to come and it should be here very soon.

Nice work! I like the second attempt with the ali gas tank and silver wheels to match. Way to take it in a different direction that fits your style. Good luck with the exhaust.

Great work! The stainless tank and rims are nice touch. I like the clutch cover too. Where can I get that in gloss?

You did a great job on the tank my mate. Top marks, especially considering how rough it looked after paint came off. ;)

Question for ShiftTechCarbon (or anyone with similar experience):

Anyone had any problems with powder coating the fork tubes? Still seal okay? Extra friction with different surface or slightly different diameter (barely thicker)?

Another Look

Guido.
Just looked at this again for the 3rd time and had to reach out to tell you how incredible your entire process looks in these spectacular photos man!
Not only did you do this perfectly, the pics themselves are unreal. I need someone on my area with a serious camera to shoot my bike with all new mods to send out to all those who helped me out with this build!

GREAT JOB Shifty! Sorry it didnt sell as is and that you had to part it out. I thought of jumping on those rotors but couldnt see them getting proper use on the street alone. Gonna submit my next order with you soon my friend!

how do you get the pictures to post within the body of the post?

Click insert image where you want it to appear. You have to have a photo service or your own site (like me) to provide a link for that option. If you do it the easy way through attachments, you cannot put it in the middle of a post.

Another way to see how people do that (or anything else fun), just press the Quote button on their post, and look at the source text. It will show you locations (links) of special smilies, pictures, etc.
