can anyone tell me where the Atlantic is?

Hey Mundman, the Atlantic is the ocean between USA and Europe, South America and Africa.

I see you are from Albuquerque. This summer we will do a 4 week vacation to Texas and New Mexico.

You are totally right. I don't buy it for value cause I know the write off is pretty big on these bikes. I had an 1198S and wrote off 8K in 1,5 years because I wanted the Panigale.

If you keep an R for 15-20 years then you will notice the big difference in values, because it has more exclusivity. I will keep it like the Shelbys. The Terlingua is one of 38 made.

Maybe if it had a V8 it would ;) As for R's. the reason they don't hold well, is they typically have Ducati's tomorrow technology. Meaning when you buy a Ducati a year or 2 later, it will have the same tech. I certainly didn't buy mine as an investement, so I don't really care. :D

This photo is taken at my dealership. The second one is my R. Waiting for the race parts to be installed like full Termis, higher windscreen, carbon tank protector and carbon license plate holder. Delivery this coming Saturday if weather is reasonable.

The two just past yours are mine. One I am painting to look like a Tri, the other a Base.

The nr 16 bike you see in the back is my next years race bike.

For what it is worth.

In your situation the R is indeed the bike to go for.

I seem to be going along the following path:

For road/light track .. Tricolore model where available (fully modified and as close to as WSBK style as possible).

In addition, it is my intent, if I am patient and lucky enough then I intend to collect Ducati RS models for track.

I don't really see any of my Ducatis as anything other than tools and toys and certainly *NOT* investments. They are an indulgent by product of my other investments and as such I will continue to collect them as a reward for my hard work.

Absolutely stunning collection you have there

That 1098R bayliss is lovely. Nice cars :D

From my side I will keep it to bikes and leave the cars and boat out of it ;)

I am very lucky as my women loves bikes, cars & boats. I have found that a well placed jewelry offering "pre-bike purchase" has thus far saved my testicles :p
