I am in the process of fitting rearsets and I would like to fit a standard shift rod and remove the quick shifter. Will this throw any codes or present any other issues before I try it out? I know it's slower, but I like a handful of clutch lever and a GP shift pattern. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the fast reply Mick. Well that sucks. I wonder if an ecu reflash can turn off the QS.

Yeah man unfortunately the shifter lives on the 5v circuit so if you unplug it bike won't start. Same goes for for gear sensor as well.

reflash is not necessary. just put a 1k resistor between + and signal,
and a 1k between signal and ground.
maybe better check before if thats right.
you should have 2k between (pulled out) sensor +/-,
and so on...

edit.
if you wish i can make a Plug for.

Very good info. Thank you. Do you know if the gear indicator still funcrions with the resistor in place of the quick shifter?

you can switch off the QS in software and shift with (or whitout) clutch, so why not?
the wiring is taken from a 1299s QS.
the two 1k resistors ARE the QS in idle state, so to say.

Btw.
as one can see we(the ecu) can get 5 informations from one (signal) line.(3 working and 2 fail states)
in a very simple manner. and that's also simple to test with minimal equipment.
its not that bad by design, isnt it?
