I have a 2017 1299S. The bike was great. No issues. Got it back from it’s break-in service, and it stalled in rush hour traffic, while under load. Coasted off to the shoulder of the hwy and called the dealer. The service writer began yelling at me and telling me I don’t know how to ride a bike, and then hung up. LITERALLY. I will leave the dealer’s name out, because they are an overall good dealer. My first Duc was a 916SPS, and I’ve had every style since, with exception of the 999S. I’ve ridden every bike in the same fashion. The only time I experienced this issue was after having the Termis installed in my 1098, and Ducati hadn’t perfected the ECU mapping.
Anyway, no issues through the 5k mike oil change. Now I’m at 6700mi, and it’s almost like the bike was meant for a sound clip- it runs just long enough to let you hear it. I go for a ride, all is good until you come to the first stop. Once you shut off the bike and turn it back on, doesn’t matter if you’ve gone into a restaurant or just stepped away for a moment, click it into neutral and it goes to sleep. Neutral is also getting harder to find. It seems to want to push back, while pushing from 2nd to N, but then it just clicks into 1st. Ran a couple of tanks of gas through and still stalls. Was leaving s Reataurant yesterday. Started it up, left the parking space, shifted into neutral while approaching a stop sign in the parking lot, and the thing went to sleep; completely stalled. I was hoping to be able to wait until the 7500mi service, but I will be calling the dealer when they open back up this week.
You know what they say about anything Italian, they know how to make thing that look good and go fast, just not last..
Not to be captain obvious, but I’d say stop going into neutral while riding until you find the fix. Try flashing the ecu, my 1299 hasn’t shut off at a stop since I’ve done that
