Some of you may know I wrecked my 1199 in 2013. Well I'm back in the game now. Looking at the 1299 when it comes to the showrooms in April.
The 1199 with the stock seat sits you in a more upright position which was comfortable to me. i.e. not laying over on the tank for most of the ride around town.

My question is: Does anyone know now if the 1299 will have the same or similar seating position? e.g. more upright vs. more leaned forward.
I hear the 1299 will have a more comfortable stock seat than the 1199's stock seat.

Does anyone know now or will I just have to wait to sit on it in April to find out?

This will tell me if I should get the 1299 or just get a good deal on a left over 1199.

I used the 1199 comfort seat option for a while, and it was definitely more comfortable, but that sits you higher and leans you forward a little more putting more pressure on your wrists. So I just took the stock seat of the 1199 and got a little more cushion put in and it was perfect riding height and no/less pressure on my wrists when I was riding.

Again, I won't be "track riding" my Pani that much. (maybe one or two times a year). Just riding around town or back road trips.

I had the pleasure of sitting on one just last weekend as I await my April Delivery. I am 6'2" and for me the main difference between the 1299 and the 1199 is that the 1299 seat forms a profile that is parallel with the ground. The 1199 would typically throw me forward a bit more and the 1299 if I sit up with no hands I stay put and do not slide forward due to the seat angle.

As far as comfort "Softness" I can not really say as I did not have that much time on it, but I cycle a lot so a lack of padding is not something I really notice much.

Hope that helps.

Ahhh.. I'm 5.8" with long arms. What you described does help. (I cycle a lot too. Trek Domane 6.5)

There's also a "Ducati promo on wheels tour" thing going on now too. They bring out the new bikes and you can sit on them and look at them. They're going to most of the bigger dealerships. Check that out maybe?!

What the heck....I'll clutter up this thread....

I've only sat on an 899.

How does it compare to the 1299,if anyone has had
the chance to sit on both?

My dealer had sold his last 1199 so the 899 was all I had to go by.

Is it freaking April yet??????

It's quite obvious that the 1299 has the same seat as the 899 (5 mm more seating hight static, 830 mm instead of 825 mm for 1199), but is a bit softer so the actual seating hight should be the same as the 1199 with the OEM seat.

Sat on the bike at a show, although the geometry has changed slightly the bike felt pretty much identical to the 1199 to me whatever the subtle differences. The stock seat is more comfortable, there are always aftermarket seat options anyway if not happy.

I guess the decision to go 1199/1299 depends on your financial position, given the extras on the 1299 and positive reviews I'd take a new 1299S if possible.

I guess i'm more concerned about my wrists taking the pressure of my weight from leaning forward, than my a$$ on the seat. I normally had to "dry hump" the tank (i.e. move closer to the tank) to get angled more upright on longer commutes so my wrists are not hurting as much. (When riding my GSXR1000)
My 1199 with stock seat was perfect. I could ride that all day with no hurting wrists. If the 1299 will give me the same seating angle then I'm getting the 1299.

You may say just get a Multi... but I want the sexiness, speed and agility of the Pani. I also have a 2012 Harley Road Glide that I'm NOT getting rid of.
