Thanks guys, yeah the flip a coin crossed my mind..... and i too thought that yeah if I have to flip again ill know what I really want.

Seller of the 1299 disclosed some info

The bike was dropped (not accident) when they were unloading the bike at his friend's house, it fell on the right side, I dont know if it fell from a high distance or just tipped over but the brake lever snapped.... in my experience tipping over shouldn't break the lever maybe bent yes or are the levers on the ducatis more susceptible to breaking?
Anyway the bike has not been ridden since because he is not in the country as he had to return home. Basically any problems from the 'drop' would only be known after riding the bike for a while.

Should I be concerned?

The bikes probably also going to need new tyres since they still the ones from the factory lol

Buy a bike withot a test-ride, is the wrong way to go, if the white 959 standard is a demo bike, why can´t you test-ride it?
I would find another dealer where a test-ride is possible

Funny!

I got my R1, 1299 and Kawasaki H2 without ever riding it before i bought them.
Never regretted buying any of them.

For me it's simple. If i want a bike i buy it regardless if i like the way it rides or not.
A bike has to be modified to the rider anyway. (tuning, setup, handling) so it doen't matter if u test ride it.
Got to get used to the bike and this process takes some time. Can't be judged over after one single ride.

Guy you are way overthinking this- there is a river of bikes out there going past you in the market, right now you are fixated on choice created in your own mind. Target fixation is a major error in riding as in life, my suggestion is to ask yourself what you actually want then wait for that bike to float by.

Either bike will be a good choice, its chocolate or vanilla but one flavour is on steroids. If you want a Panigale V twin then dont ask here about which way to go, its a total waste of time because some riders love the 959 and others the 1299. About the drop, it would be very rare that a drop that breaks a lever that didnt also break the ...... mirrors. I broke both mirrors at once on a stupid 0 speed drop on a steep drive where I couldnt put my foot down due to being on the hump where the drive fell away.

+1 on what Paul G said. Plus, the levers have weak spots engineered into them so that they break and do not transfer too much energy to damage master cylinders and other things.

Yes , funny :)

For me is about is this a bike I can "build" on to my needs or is it just a temporary dream !!!!

Yes,

If your Ducati falls over, plan on spending some money to fix it. Yes, your lever and mirror will likely brake. It’s very common.

You have to decide if you want literbike power. Outside of that the bikes should be comparable.

Lever and mirror ha

You can add clip on and if yer luck is really ...... the triple tree too : )

I was going 60 and someone turned left in front of me but seen bikes where both broke falling over at low speed or even stopped

The lightest of fall overs, zero speed, can break a mirror, lever, scratch a case cover, and crack a faring. Trust me, buy protection.
