How many options are there for the 1299 (in the US)? I know the Armour Bodies is now available (but the belly pan situation is still unclear to me) and I've been told that Sharkskins has a kit almost ready. What other options are there for race plastics? I know I can use 1199 stuff and change some brackets or whatever but I don't really want to do that.

You can use the Ducati track kit which is just unpainted own bodywork. I used MotoXPRicambi bodywork which you can buy unpainted, or painted in two different quality levels at a very reasonable cost.

Does the MotoXPRicambi require changing fairing stay or subframe? I want bodywork that mounts to the stock brackets and doesn't require those dumb blanks for the headlight and tail light openings.

Does Ducati really want $800+ just for the damn belly pan?

Limited options in the US right now, done a lot of research myself. You're on the right track...

Ducati Performance Plastic kit: Will be convenient and look good for the average track day rider but if you're racing or wanting a dedicated track bike I wouldn't go this route. Won't hold up in a crash any better than your stock fairings would and the price is higher than race glass. Also AFAIK, the DP set doesn't take into account the use of a belly pan.

Armourbodies: 1299 specific kit currently available through Woodcraft. Word on the street is that fitment is a PITA, but you can get them now.

SharkSkinz: Currently developing a 1299 specific kit that should be available later this year (I wouldn't expect to have them for the 2017 season). I am waiting on these and running them for next year.

Bellypan: A few people make an aftermarket belly pan and basically you need the Termi or Akra exhaust in order for it to fit. No matter what route you go you will need to make some modifications to get it to fit properly.

Aftermarket subframes and fairing stays shouldn't be necessary for any of these kits but I'll be going with a tighttails rear subframe and either DB or Motoholders fairing stay. Remember that with aftermarket fairing stay you'll need to come up with a custom IMU mount that needs to be in the right location and at the right angle.

The 1299 is not really an "easy" bike to convert to race trim, and certainly not one that is fun to go back and forth from street to track. For me it's a one way street. Good luck!

A few shops that have built some 1299's and can help with consultation: EDR in Oregon, Houston Superbikes, Ducati Detroit.

Sharkskinz has been saying they're developing a kit for 2 years now.

I have the Motoxpricambi...and two of their belly pans. I mangled the first one after trying to make it fit with the Kraitech drain plug...it doesn't. ..... So removing that with next oil change and going back to the stock plug....

Hows the fitment on Motox?

Ducati Performance bodywork from the dealer is the best option. IMO. Best fit, best price and easiest to get.

NW1299 is right about the strength being better for track Fairings but I'm with you on the easiest with DP. I have it on now and I acknowledge that these are to protect one time and need to replace unlike track Fairings... maybe can re use

Yeah but does it come with a liquid holding belly pan? It has to be legal for race orgs not just track days. I thought the Ducati stuff did not hold fluid.

The MotoXP stuff mounts to the stock locations and fitment is pretty good. I use a motoholders fairing stay just to lessen the cost in a crash but not necessary. You might. Red an imu mount if you remove headlight, which you have to with the race body. It has a fluid retention belly pan but you need to remove the lower rad fan duct. I'm not running the pan, it works either way.

Good...no issues- It's really nice bodywork-

Did you just order from their website? I typically avoid ordering online from overseas....any phone calls or did you just click the parts you needed and everything came properly?

Don't think it does. DP fairings are not a good solution for racing. If you're racing or doing mostly track days, I would avoid. Pretty sure you can't fit a belly pan with them and for sure they won't hold enough fluid to pass club racing tech.

I was wondering the same about the motoxprecambi stuff. I tried emailing and somehow got a text message back saying find the info on their website. The website is where I found the f@cking email address in the first place. I just have some questions that I wanna ask before I buy dammit.

I've had no issues ordering from their site. Most recently I clicked on the chat box, lower R...and sent my inquiry. The next day I got an email response from Gianluca answering my question. He then sent me a link to complete the order. No problems, big box arrived within 2 wks.

Cool - thanks for the info.

You coming down to The Ridge this year?

Did the drive from SoCal to PDX 2 wks ago...be there 6/10-11, 6/30-7/1, 8/6-7 and 9/3-4. Would love to do the combined Keigwin's/Motofit days in July...but I decided I need to work at some point to pay for all this....

I have the MotoXP (Barni WSBK replica) on my 959, and we've installed probably 20 sets of it here, for the money it's hard to beat since it comes pre-painted and stickered-up. The fit is very good, holes all line up, etc. With ANY fiberglass race bodywork, there's always a chance you'll need to do some minor "tweaking" with it, but nothing major. I went with the elite paint, which is a couple hundred bucks more but it looks great and the colors are perfect. I think that's the best option as long as it's going on a dedicated track bike and not intended to retain the street stuff (headlight, taillight, etc.) AND you don't have your own paint scheme that you're planning to have painted on it. If your intention is to have race bodywork on the bike but still ride it on the street, then the DP kit is pretty nice since it's literally the OEM fairings sans paint. You can get it painted up to match the stock bodywork, order the OEM decals to put on it, and no one would even know it's not the OEM fairings. But if you have a boo-boo at the track the repair cost will be a fraction of replacing the OEM fairings.

I've used lots of sets of Armour Bodies, Catalyst, and SharkSkinz over the years as well, and they're all good quality. It's just hard to beat the price of the MotoXP stuff if you're in the U.S. since the Dollar-Euro exchange rate is so much in our favor right now.

Cool - I am going to try and get out there in early August but it will be tough. I'm signed up for the September 4th day with Track Time as well so we will meet then.

Trying to toss in a few more days this season but just had a kid so everything is spur the moment for the next few months. I only have four days on the calendar for sure right now: June 3 (@ Pacific) then 6/26, 7/17, and 9/4 at The Ridge.

Thanks for the photos and info - that bike looks great. Now I am torn on what to do between MotoX and waiting for SharkSkinz....

is sharkskinz going to produce 1299 bodywork?

Spoke to them recently they're developing it now...no timeline.

Just had a great exchange via live chat / email with Motoxpricambi and I think they've won my business.

Right ol' chaps them blokes!
