good job topolino.

how about even simpler?

Soooo..much better looking! without the red wheels.

IMO-The bright Corsa green, white and orange combo, like Chaz Davies laguna seca bike, would have been a better choice. However, I can understand them wanting to go with the classic colors. It's the end of an era of the Ducati Big twins being used in competition and very much an Italian thing. Just as Iconic as the Porsche 911 with it's flat rear six is to Germany's automotive heritage.

Last one from me, tweaked FE with toned down green and optimised graphics with and without logo. It might just be me but I don't like green on a bike.

Most of us don't like the look of the exhaust. I'm sure Ducati doesn't like it either! Of course those big cats are fugly but Euro IV is being shoved down our throats and like it or not the cats/silencers will be bigger to satisfy the noise/green police.

Let's be honest here. Just like the standard "R" model, the exhaust is one of the first mods that most track riders make. Same goes for the 1299 FE. It's a good bet that DP will offer a "race exhaust only" header pipe as an option in the future. If not, there are companies like Storm Performance Fabrications and Moto Corse that will fill the need.

Remember this is an "R" model with essentially the Super Leggera engine. Bigger cams, compression, valves, exhaust, etc. It will really SUCK to ride the FE on most public roads at legal speeds and it will be OMG HOT  in traffic but it will be glorious on the track or empty mountain roads. This is why I will still keep my 1299 S.... Just my 2 cents....

Thanks topolino...That looks a bit better and I agree on your green comment, but it is what it is... She can be pink with polka dots for all I care as long as she cooks on the track....:p I've got plenty of other bikes I can take to Star Bucks! Besides, some track bodywork will fix all that.. you also have the option of going with some cheap basic white or flat black 1199 track panels and go stealth mode... ;)

What is that black plastic on the top of the Case? 12-3 o' clock. Can anyone tell me?

i prefer no logo -- if i were designing i'd move in the red some and maybe add a very subtle third color (not green) to lessen the white area. but yeah, no logo for me with black wheels and maybe even the plain akra underside exhaust (no need for this fake race exhaust).

here's my super sloppy to wit:

we just put their design team to shame! but it's not really fair, since this FAIL EDITIONE is just a bad misstep.

WE GET IT VAST, you don't like the look of it!! ...Yes, it's fun to do the "what if "or "coulda, shoulda , woulda" thing. It's simple if you don't like it don't buy it!!

You are a nothing more than consumer or buyer... You are not on their Board of Directors... You sound like a grown man throwing a temper tantrum because they didn't get what they wanted. You're not another one of those snowflakes are you?

SO SORRY  that they didn't build YOU the bike YOU wanted. Maybe you should send them your resume and apply for a job in their design studio....

no temper tantrum whatsoever -- i was actually having fun as a huge FAN of the brand. i didn't like the 1299sl either, but thought the 1199sl was beautifully thought out.

i think we're all just Ducatista voicing our opinions and playing around with their bikes in photoshop, which is a win/win methinks.

i don't know about you, but i really dig it when members throw up their photoshop versions and discuss how they'd design it; makes it all that much more interesting and doesn't seem like anyone's upset about it -- hard to gauge that sometimes on the internet so here let me help you :)

hey, and this one's special just for you MILEPOST:

Just noticed that it can be seen on the pics of the 1299 SL too!

My guess it's one of three things:

1) To lessen the intake and valve train noise due to Euro IV

2) Maybe to help divert some cooling air to a problem area ( Exhaust ? )

3) Or maybe it hides...a lateral flux capacitor for warping time and space in race mode :D

on a Race bike...it doesnt look that bad?

I think because its not RED but more ORANGE?. I like the more ORANGE better.

The looks on this is just not doing it for me... The green should have been left...who approved this? Lol

I have an issue with draping a motorcycle in flag colors. Don't like it on the Aprilia, don't like it here either.

Dude ... when you make comments like "FAIL EDITION" or "If I WERE designing" or "we just put their design studio to shame" and "Design studio misstep" How else could one take it?

Those comments had nothing to do with doing photoshop versions and having fun....( I enjoy that too!) Those were SLAMS against the brand. Maybe it was unintentional and if it was then I really think you should step back and read your comments twice before hitting the submit button.

Yes, as I said earlier. I think that the paint scheme could have been done a little bit better. However, I am really glad that Ducati showed some respect to their Italian racing heritage by doing the tri-color, especially since this is the last of their Big Twin superbikes.

I'm getting one of these FE in fall and yes, those red wheels WILL be taken off the day I pick it up and then put back on the day it's sold. I think we all should be grateful that Ducati came out with this mash up of the "R" / SL so all those of us that couldn't afford the SL have now the opportunity to own what I believe will be the "ultimate" street legal/track day twin cylinder bike ever made.

I agree! I feel the wheels are a bit much though! I think a white version would look more tasteful for the street but after watching the SBK race yesterday there was no doubt were the Ducati's were at any given time!

This color scheme really grabs your attention. Great for product placement and marketing. IMO It would be good if they kept this paint scheme thru the rest of the WSBK season.

I think this will be my paint scheme theme for some trackday bodywork next year. The wheels will likely be black.

Not liking the red wheels. The belly pan should really cover the cats. Looks like an anniversario with green slung at it.....

I still don't see the point of this bike. It's not a homologation special for WSBK. It's not as special as the SL. It's not limited like the anniversario. It's a bit of a ....... really?

It's limited to when the vast stock of Panigale parts starts to get low to minimum stock levels. The space will be filled with shiny new V4 parts..... :D
