You can do clutch less downshifts with your 1199 too. if you close your throttle, blip immediately thereafter while shifting it works perfectly without any gadgets.My 1199S does all that (except WC and clutch less down shift ) so looks like I can keep my bike.
To downshift you need to close your throttle any way so that unloads your transmission long enough to blip and shift. To do that on upshifts where you have the throttle open you need to cut the ignition to unload the transmission therefore additional electronics are necessary.
Admittedly having electronic help with the downshifts make it easier to achieve.
