1299S after 1000+ miles

My 1199S does all that (except WC and clutch less down shift ) so looks like I can keep my bike.
You can do clutch less downshifts with your 1199 too. if you close your throttle, blip immediately thereafter while shifting it works perfectly without any gadgets.
To downshift you need to close your throttle any way so that unloads your transmission long enough to blip and shift. To do that on upshifts where you have the throttle open you need to cut the ignition to unload the transmission therefore additional electronics are necessary.
Admittedly having electronic help with the downshifts make it easier to achieve.

I have clutchless upshifted on different bikes for years (by quickly rolling out of the gas).

My other 2 teammates for the Endurance Race at the Grand Nationals used GP shift and I used STD at the time, we had a quick-swap setup on the linkage for me (and we timed the pit stops around rear tire changes to help conserve time). I raced for a total of almost 2 hours doing clutchless upshifts with no Quickshifter.

Clutchless downshifts however can be more tricky and are more likely to cause Transmission issues IMO.

It is easy to upshift by rolling off the gas (unloads the transmission). It would be impossible to do with the throttle wide open though IMO.

Yeah I know, I have tried it. :D

It is funny how you get used to the QS. Doing so cost me a win a couple of years ago. I battled with a guy for the whole last 3 laps, back and forth, it was great. I intentionally didn't pass him on the brakes going into the last corner and stayed behind him to use the draft coming to the line. I came out of his draft, tried to upshift and my QS malfunctioned (Bazzaz, the little sensor thing was bent).

Like a ....... I never rolled out of the gas and pulled on it a couple of more times trying to get it to shift. It didn't. I bounced off the rev limiter and lost by 1/2 a bike length. If I would have just rolled out (or slightly pulled in the clutch) and shifted I probably could have still won...but I had my head up my ....

I must admit, I know it can be done (downshifting I mean) but have never tried it on the 1199.

Have done up and down on my Husaberg, but that beast will cop anything and still keep going. :)

I'm afraid to get used to it because I'm going to forget and do it on my other bikes, especially not looking forward to that on my dirtbikes.

I see you have Akra pipes,,,,performance wise what else have you done to the bike?

I Dont plan on doing anything else to the engine there is no need to for my purposes maybe a MWR Filter and Rexxer tune but the map that comes with the AKRAP is good no complaints. I say that now but knowing myself I probably will wait until im close to the warrnty expiration date before I start tinkering with the engine mods like I did on my 1199. I have a mad scientist friend that builds drag bikes for a living waiting to get his hands on my 1299. I let him tinker with my 1199 which became a beast.

I will add the AFAM light weight kit and DID EVR3/ZVMX chain when this one wears out, probably add the Brembo GP4's and RCS too loved them on my 1199.
