Evening folks I have a question or two to help my understanding. I have looked at all the threads I can and just require some clarification to get it right in my noggin, in simple English west county bumpkin speak. Preload is obviously ignored.

1) Am I correct in stating that altering the Fixed damping settings do not in any way affect the settings when running in dynamic mode?

2) If the above is correct, then, therefore for the sake of simplicity, Am I right in saying Dynamic mode has effectively 5 ( boffin worked out) range settings, with default being bang in the centre of damping range. When set to default the ecu can say control +/- 3 clicks either side of this centre setting. Then if you go to the harder setting it would move what was the centre setting at default to say +3 clicks and then control from +/- 3 clicks from this new centre new centre point.

If I am completely wrong please correct me. As I was initially under the impression that if you changed the fixed settings this altered where the dynamic worked from.

Cheers
Dave

You are correct: The Fixed settings are only functional when you are in that mode; if you are in dynamic mode, those settings are ignored and overridden.

Well, you can run in ANY of the settings in dynamic mode, you can mix and match. For example, hardest front and softest rear I'm not sure if my math is correct on this, but I think there are 125 different combinations you could run based on the 5 menu choices.

The way I understand it (and I could be wrong) is that the fixed settings have absolutely NO effect in any way on the dynamic settings.

The only thing that stays constant are your sag settings, which are static and cannot change; only the damping parameters change. I have tried changing sag, based on what I am doing with the bike; i.e. commuting, I run 42mm front sag and 32mm rear, for comfort; at the track, I run the Ohlins recommended 37mm front and 27mm rear.

Cheers.

Cheers for the info dude. Much appreciated. I'm getting my sags sorted out on Wednesday. I will also get a base setting for damping done on fixed. I haven't played with the suspension on the pani yet. I have spent 2500 miles just getting used to it so I'm interested to see if I can detect a difference, and if so how much I can improve it.
