Anyone know if they will be around the same price as the other BST's that are currently available?

Not a fan of the kinked spoke. But I'm sure they had to make it different in some way then the SL's wheel.

I have an order in for these. Can't recall exact price i was quoted, but they are in the ballpark of other BST's. I too am not sure about the kinked spokes. I also like the silver hub of the SL wheels vs all black, but I'll make the call when I see them. I'm happy with the look of the Anniversario wheels so may just keep those.

$10K for the SL wheels is absurd. My $$ is going towards the Akra race exhaust! :D

My local dealer placed the order for all of my parts including exhaust and wheels.

I purchased a set of the 1299SL carbon wheels last month, and boy are they light! They need a different set of spacers to the standard 1299, but other than that its a straight swap.

Congratulations,

did you get them via the Ducati dealer network?

There was a Carbon Fiber wheel failure this weekend at Chuckwalla.
Hope the guy is OK! Totally sucks for his bike.

Man I don't know.... My honest guess is that he went down and the bike hit something and the rim broke. I have 3 sets of BST rims 1 on my track bike 2011 ZX10R Modded to the hilt, one on my H2 that puts down 271HP at the tire and the last set on my ZX14. I've had the BST on the 14 for over 30,000 miles including top speed run at Loring 203.46 MPH and many pot holes and dirt roads with cross country trips and never an issue..... Something was going on with this one for sure.

It's very unlikely every spoke separated like that, my guess is the bike went down and they cut the hub out after the fact.BST does tell customers to cut out the hubs of their damaged wheels because they can be reused when ordering new wheels to reduce the costs.

Ouch yes that's definitely a BST can tell from the logo so yeah with you guys hope it broke from the crash and not the other way around.

Comment on facebook from someone who knows the rider/bike is that
the wheels were 3 months/100 track miles old with no bad history.
Scary.

Glen

Yeah but was the wheel damaged in the crash or crash because of wheel failure?

Something about flames seen in the hub area prior to wheel failure and subsequent crash.
Maybe bearing failure or binding brakes??
Sounds like a weird one, but as we all know, Murphy's Law takes no prisoners.:(

From what I read...problem with rear caliper leading to binding...heat build-up/caliper and rotor glowing...wheel failure...bad crash...in that order.

We can find examples of wheels made from every material that fail, carbon, magnesium, aluminum, they can all fail.
A friend of mine had a stock wheel on a then two month old Speed Triple fail during regular urban riding. .... happens, do your due diligence as far as maintenance is concerned, and hope it doesn't happen to you.
I only say this because I hate threads that turn into carbon wheel bashing because there's been a few examples of carbon wheels failing. And the carbon wheel bashers pretend that no other wheel has ever failed!!

I can’t recall seeing similar failures with the other materials? But...I’m not very smart so I probably simply forgot....

If Robert Dunlop were still with us he'd have plenty to say about mag wheels failing (IOM '94). There's also a famous photo from world superbike from the 1198 era when a rim sheers from the spokes and parts company with the bike as the rider is accelerating off the corner. It was posted on this forum recently, can't remember which thread...
