After a visit to my local workshop to get some parts, i found out that they had some intake trumpets/injector holders laying around from a 1299 SL.
I know these are unique to the 1299SL, would it be a worthwhile improvement or upgrade to put these on a 1199/1299?

How much? Jetprime makes some billet stacks that look super short for a better top end. If they're the same size as stock I'd say not worth it at any price.

The intake trumpets and injector holders from a Ducati 1299 SL are indeed unique to that model, as they are designed to optimize airflow and fuel delivery for the specific engine configuration of the 1299 SL. Whether they would be a worthwhile upgrade for your Ducati Panigale 1199 or 1299 depends on several factors:

1. Compatibility

  • While the 1199 and 1299 Panigale models share many similarities, the 1299 SL parts may not be a direct bolt-on upgrade for the 1199 or standard 1299. You would need to verify if the intake trumpets and injector holders are compatible with your bike's throttle bodies and airbox.

2. Performance Gains

  • The 1299 SL intake trumpets are designed to improve airflow and combustion efficiency, which could potentially lead to slight performance gains in terms of throttle response and mid-range power. However, the actual improvement may be minimal unless combined with other upgrades like a tuned exhaust, ECU remap, or air filter.

3. Engine Tuning

  • If you install these parts, you may need to adjust the fueling and ignition maps in your ECU to fully realize any potential benefits. Without proper tuning, the bike may not run optimally, and you could even lose performance or fuel efficiency.

4. Cost vs. Benefit

  • If you can get the parts at a low cost or for free, it might be worth experimenting with them. However, if you need to purchase them or invest in additional modifications (like tuning), you should weigh the cost against the expected performance gains.

5. Aesthetic and Collectibility

  • If you're a Ducati enthusiast, using rare 1299 SL parts could add a unique touch to your bike and increase its appeal. However, this is more about personal preference than performance.

Conclusion:

If the parts are compatible and you're willing to invest in proper tuning, they could provide a slight performance improvement. However, the gains may not be significant enough to justify the effort and cost unless you're already planning other performance upgrades. If you're curious and the parts are inexpensive or free, it could be a fun project to experiment with. Just make sure to consult a Ducati specialist or tuner to ensure everything is set up correctly.

The Jet prime unit is like $1600AUD here at the moment. These left over SL parts I could pick up for a box of beers i guess(the SL now has some WSBK fuel setup i hear). I have Rapid bike/Tuneboy setup so tuning isnt an issue. Mainly Its the time and effort to fit the parts.

It'll take about an hour or two to fit the parts, but compare them to your stock ones first. Compare how tall the Jetprime ones are to stock and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Box of beers? Why not, you can always stick them on your trophy wall but the first question is what problem are you trying to solve, are you racing? The 1199 has plenty of top end already and the 1299 spread the power down the range a bit and for a more rideable bike.
