No I don't transport my bike with the kick stand down. That's a squid Harley move. Also bike is on rear stand because of a flat tire.
 
Go underneath and see what the floor looks like, I doubt its a completelyflat floor since that wouldn't provide rigidity. I'm sure it has cover and padding over it inside which is why you see it being flat. if its flat or no crazy ridges, 2" should be fine.
 
I mounted mine in a Penske truck for my 1500 mile move. Piece of cake to install and shockingly stable. It was a plywood base with aluminum 'L' brackets running width wise under the plywood for rigidity. Didn't have any issues. Totally worth the investment and the peace of mind.

Just curious but what's the issue with the kick stand down? No, I don't and have never and will never own a Harley.

You should never transport with the kick stand down if it where to lean on it it could break or bend stuff.
