Well my front sprocket turned up and I booked my bike in to have it fitted, quoted one hour, ended up being two as there is a bracket that runs in front of the sprocket that is only minimally in the way and required removal first (bugger), however I picked her up yesterday, WOW what a different bike!!!! Low down torque, the punch out of corners is amazing, and able to wheelie at lower revs (without trying). I headed up to our Port Hills from dealership collection, numerous twisty up hill sections with a few fast short straights and under hard acceleartion bike appeared easier to control, utilising short shifting kept her in the power in every gear which equates to smoother/faster riding, which I found before there was a slight hesitation or flatness, as one gear too low (needed to be near redline) and next up to high (nearly bogging), now it has that sweet spot in between and as you can tell, really excited.
It is a definate must do (or the rear sprocket) and thanks to everyones input for me to help make this decision. I went this way as I thought why replace a brand new chain just to change the gearing, if I was needing to replace the chain then most probably done a rear sprocket with a quick change system, however extremely happy with the result.
Big thanks to Gunny/Bellisimoto for supplying the right part at a competetive price, even my dealership couldnt source one, so your business card is with them now.

yep, 14 T since 5000 miles.

love my beast.
and laugh about lighter flywheels and ti-rods ;)

Nice!! :D

Thread Jack for a second here.

Does anyone know, do I need to loosen the rear axle nut to adjust the chain after my install?

Are they the same as the 1098/1198? I have a brand new 14T from my streetfighter, but not sure if it will fit.

Any issues with the chain chewing into the swingarm?

No issues, discussed this with the dealership, hence why I had them install as listed with Ducati for warranty compliance, usually do all the work on my bikes, but since brand new I unfortunately have to pay them to do what I am capable of doing.

From part numbers no, however I have seen this before and they do fit, here's a pic of my 15 tooth one for you to compare. Might be a different offset, ask Gunny he may know.

I do know the head nut is the same as replaced for the radar detector mount.

Ahh that makes me happy. Thank you!

14 for Mondays track day :D. Thread jacking over.

This is why we have a forum, for discussion and knowledge sharing, this is a legitimate question directly relating to the chain and sprocket. You will be impressed.

Thanks! The lower price certainly makes this an attractive option to replacing the rear sprocket and chain. I imagine the difference in pull is slightly more pronounced when going this route as well.

I'm thinking about doing this mod soon and am wondering how to maintain stock geomtry. Should the chain be shortened by removing a link or is the slack taken up via other means?

has anybody done this with going up in the rear sprocket as well? i already have the 41 rear installed and by putting the 14 in the front wonder if the bike would be too snappy? anybody?

If you're looking for personal opinion, I believe the gearing would be too short.
