Track Prep Phase 1

Saturdays plan was to take a morning ride to compare the R to the Anniversario, then strip the fairings to install the clear windscreen, remove the evap canister, and safety wire the exhaust flapper valve and remove its servo.

Unfortunately we witnessed a rider that had been left behind by his group fly off a cliff without his group even missing him. If we hadn't seen this, no one would have known where he was. Bad group riding etiquette that really pisses me off.

So I didn't get home till late and not enough time for the planned work. So what I got done was removal of the bar end mirrors, re-installed factory bar ends, and safety wired the grips. I removed the NRC front signals and replaced them with the DP mirror block offs.
At the rear I removed the NRC turn signals and license plate mounts. I used the DP block off piece that came with the Anniversario to close off the bottom. Unfortunately this was all the time I had available this weekend.

Since I have a spare set of DP rearsets that are missing a couple of parts, my dealer ordered the missing shift rods and brake rod assemblies to complete the kit. This will go on when the parts arrive.

^looking good. I forget how pretty stock R fairings are now that I have had track fairings.

Looks like Brake Clutch fluid change is due soon. It is dark!

Yeah it's very dark and overfilled. Whatever the factory uses for brake fluid turns black from the exhaust heat it seems. My Anni is doing the same and I'm not a rear brake user.

but apparently according to Lorenzo...we are suppose to use rear brakes on Ducati. :D:D

It's a race weekend so I'll be at the track. Not sure how much time I'll get to work on the bike this weekend.

The electrical connector plugs haven't arrived yet but the Track Tape for the lights did. These are temporary till I decide on the blanking plates or raceglass next.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts after a proper track run!

I've used the track tape and it does look much nicer than any tape. Be careful as it's not as playable as you think and can tear easily. That's was my only complaint with it. It would be better if it was more stretchy.

Ride the wheels off it!

I'll be at The Ridge with Track Time and OPRT if you make any of their days-

MMC look forward to seeing that bike of yours. So far I'm scheduled for OPRT on July 1 at the Ridge. Also trying for OPRT at Pacific on June 3. I think there's a Track Time at the Ridge around September 3-4? I'll try to make that one also.

MMC, what dates?? I've got days booked with Track Time later in the season (July and September) Looking forward to meeting and riding with you.

It should be called the Green Wave
Guys - I'll be at the Ridge with Track Time on Aug 5/6 and Sept 3/4. Hope to see you all there!

Thanks Flo, I'll hit it lightly with the heat gun before I install them. I got the bike up to the track to Barry to baseline the suspension. He softened it up a bit. Once I switch to raceglass he said we'll soften it up even more as we lose some weight. Damned wet weekend.

More progress tonight.

I stripped of the fairings to replace the CF windscreen with the clear one.

I dropped the headlight to unplug the marker light and high and low beam lights. While I was there I removed the huge, bulky and heavy horn and its hardware.

Remember; if you have LED headlights you'll need the plug from the racing electrical connectors kit to prevent warning lights on the dash.

I finished up by bolting the headlight back up and using my stash of KTM Racing zip ties to tidy up the wiring.

Warning: do not turn on the key while the IMU is not mounted properly in its holder.

That's all for tonight. Back to the racetrack Sunday morning.

Are you keeping your stock fairings and lights on for the track @Twistedracer?

The trak tape is already cut into templates, from what I see...for specific locations on the Panigale, I presume? NiiicCe.

Yes they're already cut for the head and brake lights. Hopefully have some time to install them tonight after I get back from the track.

Trak Tape

I just installed the Trak Tape. I used a heat gun to help follow the contours. So far my only gripe with it is it needs to be stickier. Guess we'll find out how it stays out over a few trackdays this season.

Otherwise I don't mind using Duct Tape. Goo cleans of easily with 3M adhesive remover.

Why not remove altogether? You should buy race glass for this thing!
