Hello all,

As a reward for making it to a milestone birthday recently, I'll be purchasing a 1299S. I had planned on waiting for the '17 to be available because I wanted the evo version of DTC, DWC. Dealer said it looks like an update would be available for the 16 but wasn't sure when. Salesperson got confirmation of this from the regional sales rep and sent me a screen shot of the accessory catalog with a part number for DUCATI TRACTION AND WHEELIE CONTROL EVO (96580151A).

So. Do I pull the trigger on a discounted '16 without ironclad assurance the update release will occur, or pay a bit more for a '17?

If the EVO update is finally available grab the discounted 16. That's the only difference between the 17.

As tempting as the discounted 16 would be there are always going to be production updates/fixes that we wouldn't necessarily know about. I'd go with the 17 and have better resale value if you decide it's not for you.

Problem is it's not actually available at present. Part number, but no price and not in stock according to the screen shot I attached. So I would have to trust Ducati do not change their mind for some reason. Not likely, I suppose, but there is a part of my personality that does not like accepting that risk.

Dealer proposed $1500 discount plus doing the update gratis when it becomes available. They believe it will be priced at around $350. I've yet to counter.

Trust Ducati...sound scary and very risky. I would definitely go for discounted 2016 model. You might be disappointed at the end if you decide to wait.
