Just sold my 2012 Base this afternoon for the full asking price ( 15k$CAN).

Kept most of my goodies including the slip-ons, TTX and Ohlins fork cartridges.

I'm in a bit of a quandry however on what to do next. My dealer has a leftover '13 Tri I have been lusting after, another one has an '13 R with 800 km, both for 27k$. And there's the reasonable thing to do which is to get a '14 Base, install my stuff and ride away.

Do you guys think there is a market for used Termi's and TTX? I think the cartridges would sell pretyy easily since they are brand new, but the shock needs servicing and will probably not get me it's value.

Thanks for chiming in.

Why did you sell your base? Personally I'd go for a S or tri, there must have been a reason to sell your base. Having said that I can imagine you should get decent money for the termis and the shock

There's always a market for parts. Just depends on the price.

If it was me, I'd go for 14 base n mod it up. Tri is overpriced (although my first choice) and you can achieve similar specs to an R with a base, minus the conrods and other R specific specs. If money wasn't an issue, I'm a fan of the Tri. Since you already have some mods, I'd get a base and then invest in some lightweight wheels n call it a day.

I had the big service coming up and if I take that off the 5k$ I'd spend on a '14 Base it will cost me around 3 grand to have 0 km's on the counter, full warranty and peace of mind.

The S models are very well equipped, so I'd go with the Tri as well. Great looking bike, limited edition, and a worthy host for your Termi's. On the application side, the LED headlights, electronic suspension, Marchesinis, and ABS should all make for a very noticeable change from your previous base model.

That was my plan and I agree with you 100%, but I'm such a sucker for the Tri.

Plus they're taking 3 grand off since it's a '13, it comes with Termis so if I sell mine and the Ohlins stuff it starts making sense.

I'd buy the R and you would have no need for the full termi and TTX, which means extra cash.
BTW, zero issues with my '13 R after 5K miles on the clock.

It's overpriced by a large margin when another member is/was selling his 2013 with less miles, also full termi and buncha other bits for $20k.

I'm sure the OP's main concern is warranty period, not necessarily the specific Panigale.

Take it easy sir.

I hope he is a better judge on value than you are.

Value is based on the going rate in a used market, not what it costs from a dealer.

If there is a newer tri with less miles and more mods and $4k less than your selling price, that makes that persons for sale ad "valuable" and yours becomes overpriced. Common sense.

Why is this even a question? Get the R, espcially if it is the same price. It comes with a full exhaust and the main difference is the R motor and flywheel, which makes it a much bigger difference experience-wise than your base or an S/Tri.

The only question I would have is how much warranty is left on the R since it's used and we all know how valuable the warranty is on these bikes. If it were me, I would definitely get the R, sell the upgrade bits you have now (which should go very quickly for at least 2/3 of what they cost new) and buy an extended warranty. The R needs nothing, except maybe race bodywork and CF wheels, but those are just my choices.

If are going to do it over just get the R, if you get a tri with full system or a s with full system is almost the same price of an R and you won't get all the carbon and a very trick out motor and just remember the R is the R everything else is not that special.

Go for the R, that way your done. Try and work the dealer over for an extended warrenty, and PM me with a package deal for your take offs,I'm is northern Cal.

There is only two option for the panigale
1 the base model for people who want to mod the .... out or want a track bike
2 the R for people who want a very special Ducati with all the accessories include
