2012 Base is sold, what next?

I'd buy the R and you would have no need for the full termi and TTX, which means extra cash.
BTW, zero issues with my '13 R after 5K miles on the clock.

Sounds good to me:)
That's what I'd be doing in a heartbeat.

So just because someone was desperate enough to sell their $28000 bike for $20000 that means we all have to or it's a bad deal?

That's $28000 before taxes and fees. Plus significant mods. I think most people who are selling their used stuff is already taking a loss due to a lot of things, but to give you a $10000 price cut because someone else could afford it is not value.

Come on man. Common sense.

Value is based on the going rate in a used market, not what it costs from a dealer.

If there is a newer tri with less miles and more mods and $4k less than your selling price, that makes that persons for sale ad "valuable" and yours becomes overpriced. Common sense.

Update:

Phoned the dealer with the R at 08h00 this morning to find out it sold on Monday.

Then phoned the dealer with the Tri to find out that winter rebates ended last Friday and all new bikes got hiked by a grand.

Will drive up there Saturday morning to negociate some kind of deal.

Sorry for semi-jacking your post Fireman.

The R sold? That means get the SL !

Good luck with getting another Duc. If you decide to buy one state-side let me know !

PS

What's the weather like in Quebec in this particular bad winter?

Bummer fireman!

There's always another one around the corner. Now that there aren't any more rebates and new model years are hiked in price, for sure the decision would be to go for a gently used R. Like I said, sell your mods from your base and buy an extended warranty for it.

Done!

Lol! I'll find something!

As far as the weather goes, we're still busy sledding, snow conditions have been exceptional.
And BTW, if you guys think our bikes are trouble, get a darn sled, it's a weekly commute to the dealer to bring the sled on Monday and hopefully have it ready by Thursday.

That's nonsense and an easy fix.

MOVE :)

I wish I saw snow once in a blue moon......nah..no I don't. Was born in that craziness. Will never live in a city where it snows. Sorry future family of mine. Wherever you are. We're stuck in sunny los angeles!

Sledding is the most fun you can have with boots on! It's like a trackday all day with a 200hp superbike.

Definitely not doubting that. In fact, I enjoy "visiting" the snow for fun. Living in that kinda weather is an absolute no no.

Snow to me is like grandkids to grandparents. Enjoy them when they're behaving and give em right back to their parents when they're actin up.

Could you imagine havin a rowdy kid around for 3-4 months? Suicide time!! Lol

I just hate the cold but couldn't imagine having to drive in snow. Those are my only reasons. I was born and lived in Istanbul for about 6-7 years as a kid so I remember those days. Ton of fun of course but as an adult, I'd prefer a weekend getaway to the mountains or something. That's 3-4 months of no riding! Crazy.

Just sold my 2012 Base this afternoon for the full asking price ( 15k$CAN).

Kept most of my goodies including the slip-ons, TTX and Ohlins fork cartridges.

I'm in a bit of a quandry however on what to do next. My dealer has a leftover '13 Tri I have been lusting after, another one has an '13 R with 800 km, both for 27k$. And there's the reasonable thing to do which is to get a '14 Base, install my stuff and ride away.

Do you guys think there is a market for used Termi's and TTX? I think the cartridges would sell pretyy easily since they are brand new, but the shock needs servicing and will probably not get me it's value.

Thanks for chiming in.

Sent you a PM, If your interested in an 2013 R.

Alex
