The 1199 reviews and videos have been great so far, but I'm itching for a shootout! Does anyone know when we can expect 2012 liter class comparisons?

I can't remember who did track test with the Pani already but I'm sure we've written about it on this forum. I remember it placed 4th in fastest lap time behind BMW 1000RR, RSV4, and Kawi. I'd give the magazines at least 1 month after the US launch until you see some reviews and comparisons...

Not to sure about you Northerners, but I understand there is one planned for next month down here.
The bike is just going through its paces at the Eastern Creek track in prep for it.
It has done its first service and guess what no smoke:D

Thanks @ttkarp. Interesting how poorly it measured up given the rave reviews so far.. Eager for the British mag write ups!

Agreed, the power to weight ratio is so much higher that I'm wondering why it didn't fare better to the others.

I know this bike doesn't have as much mid-range punch as the old 1198 (which coming from a 600cc bike is a relief) but its very close to the competition... hmmm

Also, it fell below two bikes that don't have brembos or ohlins. I think those factors alone would better its chances in a track test. Maybe the Italians can build a great "frameless" bike, but can't quite figure out how to ride one..

Hey Wallaroo, is that with AMCN?

I guess it will be.....I just know Craig McMartin has had one at Eastern Creek after doing the 1000k's and it is to be used in a shootout.
He lapped faster than his 1198 race bike and is very impressed with the bike overall.

Hi guys, the mag that made the comparison is the italian one Motociclismo, you can find the results on their site Motociclismo.

I've been there at the Monza track all day long, the driver was Fabrizio Pirovano, former wss champion and two times second in wsb ... a very very fast guy expecially there in Monza... he was born just there...

The track is a very fast one, maybe not the best one for twins but I wondered too as Panigale was in fourth. Ok for Bmw but also rsv4 was faster, with a lot less power than the Pani...

I really want to hear from someone who has ridden the bmw as well how the new 1199 and it's monster hp and light weight feel in terms of acceleration. The bmw is really a blast above 9K rpm. I wonder if the 1199 will give that same arm wrenching hold on tight feel after it's sweet spot above 7K rpm or if it feels more gradual.

I was listening et Provano's impression and he said... Bmw engine is unreacheable at the moment. Pani was better in handling but not so stable expecially in the very fast corners. he light weight helps a lot in acceleration, that's the main reason of the maximum speed of 294 km/h, only 4 less then the Bmw. maximum hp at the wheel for the Pani at the dyno was 169, Bmw was 180.

I bet that was cool! Did you get a chance to ride the Pani at Monza?

And JK with the Italian thing, everyone knows Rossi is the man.

I'm not sure how the speed was only 294 on a track like monza? Bayliss said at abu dhabi that the speedo showed 300 (didn't show past 300) but it was still pulling. Some odd things going on....

No the track has been reserved for two days by the magazine itself, only the giournalists tested the bikes.

The speedo shows 300... but the maximum speed was tested with a gps on each bike. i saw in person when they get times and speeds. Bmw was a little faster last year (302) because of the sprocket. This year it mounts a 46 instead of 45 one.

So the 1199 is only 1 spot higher than the 1198 was , and the others bikes are more or less the same as last year .

very smart move not getting sucked into the Ducati media hype and canceling my order :D:D:D

Very smart for you, based on your purchase criteria and requirements, but hey, don't make it sound like the rest of us are suckers.

Not needed, or appreciated.
