hey guys,

anyone have any experience with these bikes? I've ridden the Panigale and enjoyed it, but def want some input re:1190 as I really like the looks of the KTM and hear it is equally fun to ride on the street and track.

thanks!

I love the looks of the KTM ! Almost bought one before I heard rumors about the 1199. I've read that some of the earlier years seemed to have problems with oil leaks. Havn't read anything about the 2012. Bad-... looking bikes though ! Good Luck !

I test rode my friends RC8r and its a beautiful bike the handling and riding position is comfortable at least better than my Panigale riding position when I rode it on the canyons I could not believe I was riding a sportbike it feels like Supermoto the riding position is very upright and it has the Vtwin engine character that I love however, If I was not a Ducati die heart fan I would get a RC8r

The RC8 is a great bike, slightly down on power over the 1199. Although not electronic its very easy to adjust the setup to suit, even in standard trim very comfortable.
Priced very well compared to the Duc too, but with that being said and as fun as the KTM is there is something about the Pani that gives it its character and the huge grin you get on your face every time you start it!

I have both. The RC has a more traditional V-twin feel. And a LOT less rider aids, it's my race bike lol. (I have the 2011 RC8R Race Spec.) I like the handling a little more, but the Duc is definitely faster. It's also built like a tank.

I saw an RC8 for the first time here in Boulder. Looks and sounds beautiful. They definitely need to ditch the landing strip headlight and go for something more menacing in front, though.

Every review I read when comparing all the euro bikes, the RC8 is usually last. It's down on power and lacks the tech features of the others. You could say big deal however, I'm yet to see any moto journalist go fast around on the Track on the RC.

Did that keep you from buying the Pani since the BMW was beating it in all the mags at first?

In reality, the RC8R is a bike you need to understand and get used to. When I first started riding it, it broke me off. Now, I feel so much better on it. (track bike)

I rode an early model RC8 at a demo day my dealer had here in Scottsdale. Wasn't impressed at all. The seat was really wide, everything had a really inexpensive feel and the vibration was ridiculous! So much so that I pulled over to check if the mirrors were loose, to my surprise there were not  and it didn't have that low end pull that I was expecting. When I was done the sales rep said that I should take the new bike out for a spin, they had made some changes. Unfortunately they didn't have one :( But overall I like the looks of the bike, very unique.

You can't even compare the early models. They made so many changes, for the better! They replaced the crank with a heavier one, getting rid of the bad throttle response and the shakes. I really don't feel that the bike feels cheap at all.

I'll be bringing them both to the track Friday, will do some vid and post up my thoughts. Excited to get the Duc out there for the first time.

That's what the sales rep said. I meant no disrespect to your RC8, but they didn't have a new RC8 for me to demo so I'm left with the one and only impression the early bike gave. My local Ducati dealer is also a KTM dealer but they don't stock any RC8's, only dirtbikes
