Having an issue with my 2013 1199.

Put about 6k miles on her last year with nary an issue. When it started getting too cold to ride in December, I basically put her up.

Tried to start her on New Years day but she cranked away with out turning over. Figured it was the notorious Ducati cold start issue and let it be.

Now it's April, & 55 degrees out. Changed the battery out with a fresh one, but she keeps cranking and doesn't want to turn over/start.

Any ideas? Could the gas have gone bad in this amount of time? Water in the tank maybe?(It's been covered). Some other issue perhaps(charcoal canister has been removed btw)

The bike is still under warranty but I'm loathe to go through that process without troubleshooting first.

did you try cranking with full throttle?

The throttle bodies will never open beyond something small like 20% no matter what the input is while starting.

Did you do any work on the bike or is it just as it was when parked?

Does it have gas? Have you visually checked to be sure? If its low, you might want to add some fresh stuff.

Negative. Will try that tomorrow I guess. I thought with Fuel Injection changing throttle position on start was a thing of the past.

It should be. But the only times I have had starting issues were when it was warmed up, went into a store, came out and tried to start. I have the canister, but these starting issues are extremely rare - and it always starts right up with full throttle. Just saying its worth a try, as there isnt much you can quickly try before going to the dealer.

I'm with Trauma. Only had issues starting with warm or hot engine.
How long do you depress the starter button before you release it?

Probably clogged injectors due to old or dried up fuel. Remove injectors and place in injector cleaner and gasoline solution overnight. Reinstall and you should be good.

Tank is full. Thinking about draining it and putting fresh stuff in. Didn't make any changes to it prior to having starting issues.

Don't under estimate how ...... modern fuel is. The moisture absorption is next level compared to the leaded gas of the old days. One thing I hate about The Walking Dead...none of those cars would be running.

The least painful solution is to try opening the throttle.

The next would be replacing the fuel but, keep in mind there is fuel in the lines so it will probable take a few tries to get the fresh stuff.

Gotta have fuel stabilizer added to the full tank when putting it up for awhile. Would last a lot better if you have 100% gasoline instead of ethanol additives in it.

The ethanol crap in gasoline will absorb water and make the gas go bad if it sits too long. Try finding ethanol free stations on the internet.

This.

Happens to us at the shop. Some random bike is sitting there for 6 months and need to change the fuel because it wont start.

REPOSTING. THE PROBLEM IS MOST LIKELY YOUR EVAP CHARCOAL CANISTER....ESPECIALLY AFTER QUICK ERRANDS. I CREATED A VIDEO ON REMOVING IT BELOW. VERY COMMON PROBLEM. REMOVE THE CANISTER, PLUG THE VACUUM LINE, AND DISCONNECT THE VAPOR LINE. TOP-OFF WITH FUEL AND TRY STARTING.

OP clearly stated that Charcoal Canister has already been removed...
