A friend of mine is looking to buy my 2013 1199 Base. It's in excellent condition. It has Ohlins forks, shock, and damper. Zero Gravity windscreen, tech specs, DP fender eliminator, and Termi Slips with 2020 miles. I also have all the stock parts. What is a fair selling price as is, and if I put it back to stock? My friend and I seem to disagree by a hefty margin, so I'm looking for a few unbiased opinions.

You won't get unbiased opinions here lol!

Best opinion I can give, is the options really don't add any value, unless the buyer wants those exact options. Spend time searching here for what they have sold for, then offer him a discount on those prices for saving you the labor to remove them.

I'd say with Termi slips, Ohlins all around, etc, ummm....... $16k. Sounds like a nice bike. I was 98% going through buying a 2013 Base with no extras for $15500 last Fall before the seller backed out. So yours has better suspension and extras, but the 1299 has been announced and it's been a while since last fall.

Remember the pitch is, he can spend wayyyyy more to get a new bike with no add ons, or get a different used Pani but then there's all kinds of comparisons between used Panies. It's not like he's gonna go find a 2013 with Ohlins for $12k ya know.

Glws.

I respect your opinion, but I think full ohlins and termi slips add value. And removing the add ons would be free, I put them all on myself.

My friend wants to pay $16,000. You're thinking like him. I guess I'm the one who is out of line.

16 K is the going price, check Kelly blue book. kbb.com plus your add ons which you will not recoup your $$$ from. I have been in your same spot and ended up not getting what I wanted...GLWS.

I just checked KBB and it said exc..condition 15,400...Add your parts and you should get 17-17500 for it....If I was in your spot I would get that or keep it...

I agree with you. I think I should get 17,000-17,500. Unfortunately no one else agrees with us. Based on what I'm seeing here, I'll either put it back to stock and ask 13,000-15,000, or just keep it.

Part it out dude. You'll get $1000 for the termi slips, $1500-$1800 for the forks, $200-$300 for the damper, $900-$1000 for the shock. That's at least $4000 in parts if you sell separately. Then you can sell the bike for $13-$14k easy and still make out on top. This option is a no brainer....unless of course you just want to keep the bike.

If i sold my bike as is, i doubt i could get $20k for it, even though i have like $14k in aftermarket parts. I'd never sell a car or bike with upgrades unless you're loaded n money means nothing.

These prices are a bit inflated. In August I paid $17,000 out the door for a brand new 2014 base. With the 1299 just around the corner dealer stocked 1199s are going to be discounted.

You can add up all the odds and ends, but parts aren't worth nearly what you paid for them.

That's a great price. But this is New York City, and everything here is expensive. You aren't getting a new leftover 1199 for 17K out the door. Tax here is nearly 9%.

Carbon fiber shock cover, carbon fiber inner fairing, Tech specs, DP fender eliminator, DP euro signals, DP race seat, DP tank sticker, Zero Gravity Corsa windscreen, Speedymoto Fork and rear axle sliders, Gilles foot pegs, these are odds and ends I don't care about.

Ohlins FGRT 203 forks, TTX MKII shock, SD040 Damper, and Termignoni Slips with USB Map aren't what I consider to be "odds and ends". And they're worth at least half of what I paid for them.

Don't mind what bp said about prices being inflated. Like i said, based on previous sales on this forum, you can get $4000-$4500 for your big ticket items, then sell the bike for as cheap as you'd like, depending on how quick you wanna get rid of it for. You should even be able to get $12-$13k on a trade-in probably. I dunno but definitely sell the parts separately.

Good luck selling base for anything but a little over trade in value with about a 1/3 value for extras. Average trade in is $11,500 on 2013 base. Sure it says retail is $15,400 but if I am buying a bike from someone on the street selling it with no warranty or could wait and get the 1299 for a few K more with 2 year warranty then where is my incentive to buy yours?

If you can get $16,000 for it now then you best grab it and run cause when the 1299 comes out the dealer will only give you less than $11,500 as the book value will drop and they give you nothing for extras. If you don't believe me go ask your dealer what kind of deal he will give you on trade in.

I had an 2012 1199 Base with ABS and 2 year extended warranty with ceramic coated full Termi. At the time I put it up for sale my book value was $15,500 retail for stock bike without full system and extended warranty. Ended up selling for $12,500 as dealer only offered $11,500 trade in and no one wanted to make an honest offer but tried to low ball only offering just over trade in value. I ended up making the best deal that I could.

Lesson learned: no matter what you add on to the bike the only way to get any money for the parts back is to take them off and sell yourself and when a new improved model is coming out good luck getting anything close to trade in value.

There's one thing you guys aren't taking into consideration, location. This is not Tennessee or the midwest. This is NYC, one of the most expensive places to live in the US. Prices are inflated here, and things cost more. I have bought 12 bikes in the last 10 years, 7 of them new. And I've sold 8 of them. This ain't my first rodeo. I'm also an obsessive compulsive disorder madman and keep my bikes super mint. I always pay close to suggested retail when I buy. I always fetch close to suggested retail when I sell. I have never put so many aftermarket parts on a bike before. Luckily, my local dealership will sell my bike for me, for only $500. And they can offer financing.

I just wanted to get a feel for what was a fair price to sell to my FRIEND. Thank you all for your opinions, even If I disagree with you. I'm either going to put it back to stock before I sell, or simply keep it. I love the bike, I'm only thinking of selling as a favor to my friend. He really wants MINE. He doesn't have the money or credit to buy a new one. I will update the thread when I make a move.

Dude, its not real estate facing Central Park. Its a motorcycle.

A Chevy Volt isn't worth more because of the zip code its sold in.

If the guy is your friend, work a price you can both live with and help him out. I'd MUCH rather my bike go to a good home then to a tool bag who'd only ride it like a dick and let it fall apart.

You can give a million reasons why your bike is worth what you want it to be, provide a dozen witnesses - doesn't matter, he (or any buyer) will only pay what it's worth to him. And unless he specifically wanted your mods, it's just a Base bike, and there are a bunch for sell cheaper. Don't push a friendship over money.

So who is pushing, him or the friend? :p

Being its a friend i think its different.

1. Yiur helping a buddy out.
2. Your gaining a riding buddy
3. He will help work on your stuff cause you helped him
4. You know hes buying a good bike and not getting ripped on it
5. Imo id sell it to a friend for that amount all the way in a heartbeat. Make a friendship better.

Just my 2 cents.

So what did the dealer offer you as trade in as you stated he will sell it for you for $500.00?

The 1299 ..... all over your deal as the 1199 now goes the path of the 1098 and the bottom drops out on resale value. Who wants a bike with no warranty that is expensive to repair for almost the price of a new one that comes with 2 year warranty?

I guess there are a bunch of suckers in New York and I hope you find one.
