Confusing who you are trying to convince here.
Me or the op?
Confusing who you are trying to convince here.
Dude, its not real estate facing Central Park. Its a motorcycle.
A Chevy Volt isn't worth more because of the zip code its sold in.
If the guy is your friend, work a price you can both live with and help him out. I'd MUCH rather my bike go to a good home then to a tool bag who'd only ride it like a dick and let it fall apart.
You can give a million reasons why your bike is worth what you want it to be, provide a dozen witnesses - doesn't matter, he (or any buyer) will only pay what it's worth to him. And unless he specifically wanted your mods, it's just a Base bike, and there are a bunch for sell cheaper. Don't push a friendship over money.
Being its a friend i think its different.
1. Yiur helping a buddy out.
2. Your gaining a riding buddy
3. He will help work on your stuff cause you helped him
4. You know hes buying a good bike and not getting ripped on it
5. Imo id sell it to a friend for that amount all the way in a heartbeat. Make a friendship better.
Just my 2 cents.

So what did the dealer offer you as trade in as you stated he will sell it for you for $500.00?
The 1299 ..... all over your deal as the 1199 now goes the path of the 1098 and the bottom drops out on resale value. Who wants a bike with no warranty that is expensive to repair for almost the price of a new one that comes with 2 year warranty?
I guess there are a bunch of suckers in New York and I hope you find one.
It's not like his friend is on our forum, so you're right, who is he trying convince? Not us obviously
Me or the op?
It's not Central Park real estate, but in the world of motorcycles it is. It's considered a luxury, rare, model. And a Chevy Volt does cost more in NYC zip codes. That's why many New Yorkers buy their cars from New Jersey or Connecticut. I understand your point though. My bike isn't worth s**t and I just take whatever I can get for it.
I agree with this statement, except for the part about a bunch selling cheaper. I can't find any 1199 going for less than $15,000 in my area.
Very True. I'm not going to be greedy. If I sell to him, it will be at a price he agrees is fair.
I'm trying to convince my friend that he should give me more!
The dealer will put my bike on the floor. When it sells he will take $500 from the money, and give me the remainder. He sold my 2011 Hayabusa in 2012 with 2000 miles on it for $10,000 (I paid $13K new). The dealer sold my 2012 Concours 14 in 2013 with 3000 miles for $10,000 (I paid $13.5K new). And he sold my 2009 ZX-6R with 4000 miles in 2013 for $7800 (I paid $7K new). I don't know who wants my out of warranty bike, but my city is definitely full of suckers. I'm one of them, nearly always paying near MSRP for motorcycles. And lets be real here. The 1299 isn't that much of an improvement for a street rider. My S1K is WAY faster than my 1199 but it's not about that. It's about the passion and visceral experience of the Ducati that no other brand can emulate.
My friend isn't reading this. I'm just asking for opinions. I've giving my perspective, and you guys give yours. I know I'm being sensitive because I love my bike. I think it's worth whatever the upper realm of a fair price is. My friends want mine because it's mint and well maintenanced. I treat my 1199 like a novelty bike. Riding it only once and a while, and never near it's limits. He knows exactly what he's getting. Unlike buying a used one from a stranger. I don't need to sell my bike. I don't need to convince any of you, of anything. If I do sell, I'll be buying a new Ducati in the near future. Just because I can't see myself without a Ducati in my garage.
A friend of mine is looking to buy my 2013 1199 Base. It's in excellent condition. It has Ohlins forks, shock, and damper. Zero Gravity windscreen, tech specs, DP fender eliminator, and Termi Slips with 2020 miles. I also have all the stock parts. What is a fair selling price as is, and if I put it back to stock? My friend and I seem to disagree by a hefty margin, so I'm looking for a few unbiased opinions.
For what it's worth, I bought a used 2013 base in July. It's had termi slip ons, up map, Sato rear sets, DP race seat, new rage cycles general eliminator kit, sato brake and clutch res, and DP mirror block offs. Bike had 2100 miles on it and in emaculate condition. I picked up the bike for 15k. I will agree that the add ons do not raise the value that much, it's about 30 cents USD on the dollar, but it makes the bike easier to sell. The panigale do not hold value for whatever reason.
So I would think for you, 15k would be great. Set it back to stock and sell the other items to make you money back. If he wants the items that bad, you can't ask him for retail on the items, it would be closer to as I said, .30 on the dollar
Just my .02 (as you requested)
This is exactly what I was telling the OP - a lot of them are rarely ridden, kept indoors, and optioned to the hilt. But they sell for a normal price. You either wait for that one person who wants exactly what you have on it, or you pull them off and sell them on the side. I don't know how many times we have to say this to make ppl understand.
msrp new was 17,900
12,500 for buyer = good deal
you can find a new leftover, full warranty 1199 for $14,000/15,000
11,000 would be great deal for buyer
MSRP was $19,000 because it has ABS. Post a link to where you can get a new 1199 for $14-15K.

The deals do exist for brand new 199abs for around 15k but no links as the dealers will not advertise them...but walk into the right dealership and Bam...

So we're still on this
