Hey everyone just wanted to know if their is any speculation or rumors about a 2014 1199r if their will be changes and what kind of changes ? I'm on the fence of pickin up a R now or just waiting for a new model since my readiness to purchase came a little too late in the year riding in NYC stop around October ... Please no sarcasm or negative remarks I'm praying I get some insight before frosty wakes up from his slumber...

If it was me, I'd wait until end of the year or even early next year. Not because of different body style (I highly doubt this will be the case) but because since they likely will not make any changes from 2013 to 2014, you may be able to get a much better deal on a leftover 2013 should you decide to go that route. Sure it may be peak riding season but we're talking about a premiere motorcycle here. Unless you've got disposable funds at your mercy, a purchase of this magnitude should be thoroughly thought out.

My 2 cents

Great response thanks for your time

No one knows about the 2014 apparently. Dealers dont know if they will make 2014 Rs. In fact, there is # of Rs coming to US in 2013? and that is it.

My guess is that 2014, Panigale will come out with addition line up like SP? or something like that but not R.

Thanks for the input so far one fact I know is their is always a secret dealer meeting in fall around Oct I presume that's when the facts come out but I was wondering if info leaked out some how. Also it may still be a bit toooo early to roll out sp's usually they hit 5th year ... I just hope they don't roll out a Carlos checa model if they do follow the 1098/1198 rollout ...

SP probably come out in 2015 then a new design in 2016.

My guess is that no R in 2014.

I am also curious what Ducati will do in 2016... inline 4? hah!

If I remember correctly I read somewhere that only 250 2013 R's were shipped to the US

Does anyone know if that ....... got $35K for his used R a while back?
In case anyone is looking for an R there's one on ebay for $29,995. NO bs

V4 - they need to recoup the ridiculous expenses they've spent on MotoGP and it's been long enough since the Desmosedici RR came out. Also, if the Panigale doesn't come together for them in SBK like previous platforms, they'll have no choice but to compete on equal - 4-cylinder - footing with the rest of the paddock with the next platform.

Our V-Twin Pani's should then hold their values better than they are now as the last "traditional" Ducati Superbike V-Twin.

No word yet on a 2014 R. The 848 replacement be a 2014. For the 1199, you can expect the typical 3rd year Superbike updates, perhaps not as many as the 999 and 1x98. Most likely an SP in the near future, possibly replacing the Tri. The 1199 will go at least to 2015 or 2016. Slightly less than 250 R's are on the roads in North America now.

Good point.

My money is on Ducati doing some significant tweaks to the 1199 for model year 2014. Most motorcycle manufacturers perform updates every two years with a full refresh every four. Look at what BMW did to the S1000RR in 2012. Numerous changes made a good bike into a great bike.

Since an 848 replacement is due this fall and also the rumored water-cooled Monster, don't expect to see an SP model or the like since it will just be overshadowed.

The R model should live on for another year, if past models have any indication.

Ducati committed to building 2000 Rs for SBK homologation, and they have till the end of 2014 to do it. If they built them all this year (which I doubt), then there's the possibility that there won't be a '14 bike.

Get an "R"...just enjoy riding her now ... she will be an awesome purchase no matter what.

There are roumors of a super R . as future wsbk rules will put racebikes close to the street version , these rules will push the homologation bikes to carry trick stuff . Ideas are upgraded suspension kits and different ignition that allows more development ( current R and sstk ecu is mitsubishi / RS carries magnetti marelli ) . Looks may be altered to give better ayrodynamics .. Whether this bike wil be so raceoriented it becomes almost unridable on the street remains to be see. .. The transition from the rules seems tobe spread over a couple of years , so timing remains to be seen as well.

Just rumours though ... Nothing definate ..

That is interesting rumors but as R becomes Super R, I would think it will add $$$.

30,000 for R is not bad at all. Now, if they made more Race like and etc, and the price is $50k, $60-80K plus....forget about it.... isnt RS is like $200,000?
