Superbike caliber forks, full carbon bodywork, magnesium and higher-spec bits in the engine, forged magnesium wheels ..... what else could they possibly do to justify the $20,000 (or so) premium?

2 hours until the 899 unveiling? I'm not sure what is more exciting? Apple or Ducati announcements? Both are great brands with passionate followers.

I got some more news from my dealer yesterday about more 2014 models..
Monster 821 (using the same motor as the one on the Hyperstrada)
Monster 1200
There seems to be one more secret bike which is not known to anyone but will be revealed to the dealerships at a dealership meeting in New Orleans next week. There were rumors floating around about the Scrambler (age old single engine low power low capacity entry level bike) being revived with a new design for 2014.. I don't know if that is the one being revealed but hopefully we will know at some point what that is..

As far as the 2 Monster models go, my dealer isn't gossiping on those.. I trust his information and he was really sure about those.
Its the secret bike that I mentioned in my post for which they are bound by the NDA until its public unveiling in November at EICMA. As of now even the dealership folks are clueless until next week.

and then they wink wink when they tell their customers what's coming, ducati knows it. Just like always for some reason spy photos are leaked at strategic times with lightly disguised models parked or ridden around town.
Hope they don't waste time on the scrambler, the triumph scrambler is one too many anyway. I was hoping for something interesting but nothing so far.

The Ducati CEO mentioned 3 more bikes besides the 899 to be unveiled. 2 in November and a 3rd afterwards. I'm getting the sense from his words they will be super bikes. I wonder if they will release another MotoGP replica.
