2016 1299 S keys replacement

Second update on my situation. After buying the two OEM blanks from Reno Ducati, I sent them out with my ignition to get cut at a shop they referred me to. Then I called them back to book appointment to bring the bike in with the new cut keys so they can program them to bike as they've told me before. They turned around and said that can't be done and I have to buy a completely new ignition, ECU and two new blank keys because the ones I had were cut to my old ignition. They can't just program the cut keys as I was told. I was heated cuz either I was lied to so they can sell me two keys or I was being lied to so they can charge me more. Pissed off and told them they suck! I went online and do researches and found a guy that can program the two new cut keys to my original ignition using Ducati DDS. And he didn't even need my bike. All he needed was my keys, and ignition. Two days later and $250 more, I got my bike running. After all this, I'm pretty sure either the dealer wants to rob me since I ride a Ducati and should have money laying around. Or the technician doesn't know much and was just following old procedures. Oh well, my next bike won't be from them from now.

Can you provide me the contact for the guy who did your keys? I purchase a 1299 base model from insurance auction, it came with no keys.

same situation here, hey "Toys1" can you provide contact to the guy he helped you with your problem please, you can send me email if that helps [email protected]
Thank You

I got the same SHINE JOB from my dealer when I bought my bike .He told me everything would have to be replaced . So one key is in my bottom dresser drawer ,with watches ,insurance papers , etc .
I didn't think to much at the time cause my car keys are chipped and they're not cheap to replace either .
Seeing this made me respond , cause these Dealers should be OUTED ! A page should be set up with Bad Dealers who should not be dealt with . The horror stories are accumulating and there are more than a couple spread over this site . I hope all that get screwed over get their recompense .

Oh man, sorry I didn't see this thread earlier to help you out! :( We've been sending stuff to SOS Lock Service in Oregon for quite a few years to get keys made in these situations. The only caveat is if the bike is still under warranty we have to provide a warning that aftermarket tampering with the ECU/Immobilizer is considered an issue by Ducati if there was ever a problem.

Here's their web site, I'm sure there are others who do this as well this is just the one we've used, so no warranties on my part expressed or implied ;) :

I just now see this. Sorry guys, I wasn’t holding back info or anything. Just doesn’t go through much reading on posts. Only go in searching for helps, advices or parts for sale. But send an email to this address and they’ll take care of your ignition, key programming problem.

Got a call back from Ducati of Reno (KC). They said I just need to get two new keys ($62/ea), have them cut at a locksmith, then bring them with the bike to the dealership to program the keys to my bike for $30 fee. Now, that's a very reasonable solution. Ordered the keys and will go this route. I will update this once it's done just so others can get an idea and not get raped by the dealers. Because one wiseman told me that our Ducati aren't like the older series and the key doesn't tied into the dash, ECU, ignition like previous versions. I knew it wasn't right when they asked if I lost my red or black keys cuz that was old keys. Our keys are both the same and black. Thx for all the help and advices.

im in the same boat, but I have an 1199 and dealers here are wanting to ......... me with a 1,500 electronics replacement. Can’t find a dealer that will program new keys.
Don’t know if it’s similar procedure from the 1299 to the 1199
