Good cause I like that one better!

I'm thinking my next bike in the near future may be a Multi of some type.

I'm having a hard time between the new Pikes Peak Multi and the new Motard SP with Ohlins..

I like the pikes peak but not sure because of the difference between the Sky Hook system vs the Ohlins. I'm thinking he Sky Hook system might be better for the daily driver. Gotta do some more research on the Sky Hook system. The Hyper would be fun but I'm looking for more of a cruiser my wife could ride on.

Except the 959 which gets a slipper clutch and the engine size increase.

Price quoted is red and the AWS is still $300 more for the clear coat.

Perhaps Ducati felt a little guilty for making it 15 lbs heavier with only a 9 HP increase in power?

At the $15k ish price point ..there's no way I would buy a 959.... My opinion....but the ZX10/R1.New Gixxer 1000 are much better value and certainly technically superior...

That's an odd way of looking at things Steve...Especially since majority of sportbike buyers buy based on emotion and how a bike looks, not necessarily how one is superior over the other. For me personally, if I was spending $15k+ on a sportbike, it wouldn't be on a 959 either but it certainly wouldn't be on an R1, ZX10, CBR or GSXR either. RSV4 is where my money would go each and every time. Lack of parts access or dealer support and all.

Well in essence we agree??.... But just list different bike(s).. :)

Dealer support is weak in my area for the RSV4 but parts haven't been an issue. AF1 out of Texas has or can get all the Aprilia parts you need.

Where do you get 15lbs from? Last time I checked on the Ducati website the bike gained 5lbs compared to 2014/2015...or to be exact...4.5lbs...

Its amazing how you live in LA and still have issue with Aprilla dealer support and parts.

LA and California has one of the most number of dealers of all kinds I thought...and if that is true, then every other states are screwed unless just luck out with a unusal great dealer.

I made a general statement about the brand since that is the well known reputation of Aprilia but you're right, we have local dealers in socal like Pro Italia so dealer support for us locals wouldn't be an issue.

Oh ok. One of the reason I initially got Ducati was because of the dealer support and availability of location.

I move A LOT every few years and I usually never know where I am going next, so chances are for me to be near good Aprilla dealer is slim to none. But there are always at least 1 or 2 Ducati dealer in that state...if not more.

Someone posted this from the IMS in CA. Not sure what to believe since the Ducati USA site also refers to the Euro exhaust.

That is the weight for the European model which - due to the Euro 4 - exhaust system certainly adds more weight. I am not sure whether they have the Euro 4 keyword still anywhere on the site (as the engine technically is Euro 4 compliant as well) but the technical specifications correctly refer to follow the US Federal Regulations.

The person that snapped that picture was in Long Beach, California at the IMS. Check out the 899 forum.

Not sure why they couldn't type up a data sheet that matched the Ducati USA website if indeed the US model is that much lighter. It seems that they can't get the specs consistent.

Numbers matter for sure. They need to fire that guy or girl who screwed that up:D

I posted that spec sheet. Yes it was confusing since the info appeared to present the weight of the Euro model and yet the bike on display was a U.S. Model. The Ducati Tech Director ran off before I could quiz him about it and the pretty Ducati hostess from France was of no help . . . at least in that area ;)
