A friend was nice enough to share some photos from the factory of the new motor so I can confirm that it is indeed a reality that is far past the conceptual phase. Unfortunately, nothing concrete on what the bike will look like. I'd be happy to get a few motors. There was a nasty rumor that it may not be for a Panigale replacement but an alternative in the sport bike category.

Interesting...I wonder what the alternative may be? Something all new and an evoloution beyond the Panigale? I hope so...

it's been 10 years since Ducati launched the desmo, maybe another GP replica for the rich folks.

Hey Guys. I apologize that I cannot post the photos. I was specifically asked not to however Urs has seen them and can vouch for their authenticity.

Thanks for sharing. It's really exciting.

What looked special about the motors?

Nope, Domenicali already stated the next superbike will be a V4. As such, it'll have to meet the required homologation numbers and price point. Which precludes a limited run ultra expensive GP replica.

Cool news. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the thing will be a beast, but there's also the purist part of me that's glad to have what might be their last big twin superbike...

I am thinking bikes like 1299SL and 1199SL will be a big collector's item in the future if Ducati continues with V4.:D

Correction: It won't be their last big twin superbike, it will be their last LOUD big twin superbike ;)

I guess the operative word was "superbike." I doubt they'll ever fully drop the twin, but I'm thinking it'll start going the way of the trellis frame. Still exists but they keep it away from their top-tier stuff.

So maybe years down the road we'll see a Superquadro-powered Hyper...? Get arrested or die trying!

All those talking trash about Ducati will run back to buy V4. particularly those who hang around Ducati forum who are BMW fanboy.:D

I'll be honest I'm a new Ducati 1299SA owner and she's my first Ducati.... very much in love with her but I would have to buy a V4 if they came out with one.... I wouldn't sell my SA but the sound of a V4 is UNREAL :D

I have heard nothing on specs. Urs pointed out from the photos that the engine case no longer appears to be a stressed member so maybe we are going to see the return of a frame of some sort
