Has anyone heard anything about a 2018 MotoGP Ducati Island ticket option? COTA has always had one available around December, but there’s nothing heading into February?? Hoping COTA and Ducati can put something together for the only US MotoGP event

2018 COTA MotoGP Ducati Island

Yeah, good question. I've been in touch with the COTA people intermittently since December and they tell me it's coming, waiting for an agreement to be signed. Last time was several week ago. Hopefully soon.

ive been to COTA twice and ducati island is free as long as you have a ducati. if you are talking about the seats if i remember correctly its turn 15 that runs along where ducati island is. if you are talking about actual tickets with people from ducati island i dont know anything about that.

^i recall my seating was near turn 12, i was at the end of the long back straight. didn't spend a lot of time sitting there but it was nice to have a seat if you needed one. for the race, they checked your ticket on sunday but i don't think they checked during fp.

not trying to debate the prices and packages but when you get the ducati island package, it came with a goodie bag, gear check, island parking, and entry to that one nice place for snacks, seating, etc. otherwise, ducati island is completely free to everyone, all the ducati exhibits, the bikes, the displays, the store, the rally, etc.

my memory is not always the best but i don't think just any ducati could ride into there "legally" meaning i had to stop at the gate and get a wristband for the bike and they were waving in bikes at the parking area if they looked for the wristband instead of the ducati logo and you had to show a wristband or something to check gear. however, i'm sure if you sped in there with your desmosedici nobody would care.

i'd rather just buy the package again because you get to walk pitlane and ride on the track, we did 2 laps last year.

I spoke to a couple of folks at Ducati North America, corporate office in Cupertino, CA. They both confirmed that Ducati Island at COTA will not happen this year. I was told they didn’t or couldn’t reserve the large area they had last year. They might still have a presence, like a few tents and maybe show off the Pany V4, but nothing close to what they’ve had in the last few years. I’m bummed out.

not so fast, i think we are still at a maybe. i just spoke with someone at cota and they claim they have most all the "details" but it's just not yet final. it's not definitely going to happen but it's not definitely not going to happen either.

so although it is very inconvenient, i think we still have a little bit more time to decide what to do (if you want to buy other general tickets instead, etc). i wasn't give an absolute timeline but i was told it's in the works. i conveyed my concerns to the cota rep that people are planning and need to know so i should be getting a phone call back by friday. i will also ask if i can give out his info so that people can call and make arrangements directly with him if necessary, if it happens.

no idea what ducati island 2018 means but i'm hearing the infield with ducati motorcycles parking from last year, probably not going to happen this year (possibly relocated). no idea on pit walks or track laps or prices but i'm willing to wait to maybe mid- or end-march i guess.

so you may be correct, it may not be called ducati island and it might just be an ordinary demo, but at least cota is still not yet ready to say no. i think it is a shame that ducati's outstanding 2017 performance didn't translate so well with motogp cota.

Thanks for the additional info. I can understand why Ducati corporate couldn’t give me a definitive yes, if they’re still working out the details. I much appreciate whatever you find out from COTA.

So just talked to COTA and they say that they are close to finalizing a deal with Ducati. This year instead of it being behind turn 15 it will be next to the main grandstands leading up to turn 1 (yes on that freaking hill). Guy on the phone stated you'll have the option of parking on the hill or in LOT A and that if you would like to upgrade tickets to Turn 15 (where I would like to be) it will also be an option.

My inside sources say KTM will occupy the space behind turn 15 where ducati island has been in the past.

KTM! #@&$!! We should organize a BRAP mob on Ducati hill. Image a hundred Ducs belching at 10k RPM. lol

Thanks for keeping us posted. I much appreciate it.

my cota source is reporting the ducati deal is very soon within a week or so....as far as he knows. i'm willing to give it a week from friday.

that's lame to put it over front entry. i won't be getting it. it should have been behind T15 like they had been doing. I don't want to seat at GS watching bikes going straight line. Behind T15 is where all the action is happening

last year the price was $220 and this year it is $259. the view from the grandstand during the race is not the most exciting unless you like the straight line but i have found myself not sitting in my seat most of the time anyway. it was very hot in the stands last year so if the grandstand seat is in the shade out of the sun, that might be a plus.
