I mean an admin could move the thread to the ‘other bike’ section.

But other than, many of the long time members here have interest in this thread at this forum.

So those of us without a vested financial interest in Ducati who are still Ducati guys will likely be happy to discuss it here and not have a problem with that.

Seems like a huge hassle to get a base 2025 which you’ll then have to build up. Buying a regular SP is not only an easier route that’ll get you to 95% of your “race package” but it’ll have warranty and better resell-ability.

If you wanted a race prepped bike, I would’ve contacted Padgett’s over in the UK and see if you could import a track bike. Or Obsession Engineering and see if they could set up a package for you. Also fwiw, a lot of the winning has been done on the prev gen SC77 especially on the road racing side.

No. Everyone I know in club racing in the UK have built their Honda's from base model up, the most cheapest way to do it.

No. Everyone I know in club racing in the UK have built their Honda's from base model up, the most cheapest way to do it.
Resell-ability is not great, but you can always sell it as a race bike in the UK.
The current model is not available as a base version in the UK.
 
I got an unrestricted version of the SP for lower than the cost of the base version with about $4500 in HRC parts included…so the savings is substantial. The negative is that you can’t register it for street use so that may impact resale value by limiting the audience size at resale….but that’s offset by the fact that it’s an HRC issued bike directly from Japan which could be of more interest to a niche track bike buyer.

In any case the savings on the bike plus the HRC ECU and Loom is substantial enough to offset any resale value loss.

Hayden Gillim won in MotoAmerica on the previous iteration, but most of the BSB guys were on the 2024 bike last season.
 
Just one thing to point out. After all the 'what if' comments it still comes down to the RIDER, and if you are happy with your motorcycle. People can conjecture all they want. In the end... One is a Honda, and the other is a DUCATI. That pretty much says it all.

FWIW I own a very nicely done 2013 1199 making 185 WHP and 94 lbs-ft of torque, a 2003 Suzuki DL-1000 Vstrom, and a 2014 BMW C650gt Maxi-Scoot (my grocery getter) I cover almost the entire spectrum (still need a dirt bike), so I have no biases against other brands. But, a Ducati is STILL a DUCATI, and it's very hard to argue with that.

I might have agreed with you a couple years ago, but not so much any more. Other than looks I think the new CBR Fireblade SP is in nearly all objective categories a better track bike than a Ducati…it has a better chassis, a more powerful engine, a better front end, a better swingarm, and much better upgrade potential and options. Regardless of price and name, it’s a better track bike than the VRS.

To you it’s obvious that one is better solely based on the name and brand cache….i don’t buy into that.

A Ducati ‘IS STILL A DUCATI’ and therefore special is an imagined mental paradigm, and some of us are questioning that these days. Especially because Ducati seems to have become predatory to people with that mindset who are willing to accept the ‘.... you it’s a Ducati and special’ pricing model while not delivering a product that’s all that special compared to a few of its competitors offerings.

I’ll make an argument for the Fireblade actually being more special than the V4S:

Honda is by orders of magnitude the world’s largest and most profitable motorcycle maker. So there’s a real business case that they are the best motorcycle manufacturer. They produce what people actually want who ride these bikes with bullet proof reliability and at a fair price point…And with the CBR1000rr-r Fireblade SP they are throwing their enormous weight at producing the best HALO track bike in the market right now.
