2019 V4 Fuel smell/leak

Hey, Hoping someone on here can shed some light on this issue, or maybe someone is experiencing it too. I just bought my 2019 V4 and it smells of gas really bad after a ride, and today when I was had the lower fairing off, there was raw fuel on the bottom and inside the panel.

I have an oil change scheduled for this weekend, but wanted to ask the dealer to check any key areas that others have experienced. I did talk to them about this once and they said I was filling the tank too full? The smell is so bad that I have to leave the garage cracked, otherwise my whole house smells like raw fuel.
 
Is the charcoal canister still on the bike? If you overfill the tank, the excess fuel will empty into the canister. Even if the canister isn't still on, make sure not to overfill.
 
There is an overflow hose from the fuel tank that should hang out the bottom of fairing. A rubber plug holds it between the two lower halves of the fairing. If you're isn't hanging out, you may well get a pool of fuel there. It looks like a crimped hose end, bit there is a hole in it.

With these bikes you need to be careful to not fill up just before your park the bike if the bike is hot. Even if you don't over fill, a cold tank of fuel expands with heat from the motor while parked. My bike has dumped a half liter of fuel onto the ground through that overflow line as it heats up and expands.

Charcoal canister is still on the bike. I have been making it a point to fill up to the upper baffle in the tank and no higher which leaves a lot of room for expansion, or so I thought. Took it to work today and put an absorption mat under it in the shop, and there is definitely fuel leaking from somewhere.
Hopefully the dealer can sort this out, but it sucks on a bike that has just over 600mi.

If you're right, the Ducati mechanic at my bike has them mixed up too - he showed it to me at my last service. Where does the fuel overflow drop out? Surely it doesn't just lay in the bottom of the fairing, that a recipe for a fuel fire

Dropped the bike off today for the first service. I mentioned the charcoal canister and the service manager said they take them off before the customer gets the bike because they cause more issues than they help.

I will update this when I get the bike back next week.
 
Well, for anyone following along, I picked the bike up today. Put gas in it right after picking it up and before my 1hr ride back home. Put the bike in the garage and the smell is still ridiculous.

At the dealer, I asked about the issue and he said they replaced the vent hose, but everything checked out fine. I am kinda at a loss for where to go now, but this doesn't seem normal.
 
I had the same issue. The hose that drains fuel is a thin one going to one of the sides in the lower fairings. The issue on mine was that it is not the best design on how it drains to the outside. On mine gasoline was not coming out of the tiny hole, but rather was accumulating inside the "pan" and it made the garage smell like hell. My wife surely did not appreciate that.

The issue is worse if you like to hold wheelies like me. After a good wheelie with full tank, I saw quite a bit of gas coming out of that little hose.

I ended up drilling out the tiny hole, cutting off the plastic piece on which the hose slides on and adding a piece of clear 1/4" tubing basically extending that drain hose and having 3/4 inch of that clear hose sticking out of the enlarged hole.
I never had any smell in my garage any more after the mod, as gasoline can drain freely without contaminating the bike
 
I’ll give that a shot. I can definitely agree on the it being real bad after a wheelie. It made my paint protection film peal.
 
i had one occasion where my 959 filled my garage with a gasoline smell. I believe I overfilled the gas tank that time. Smell has not come back since that occurrence and I now make sure to not overfill the tank.
