2019 V4S vs 2020 V4S

Then it would be worthwhile for me to wait until 2021 and pick up a base V4. Unless I want the V4S suspension it would be less expensive for me to pick up the base V4, and upgrade the bike to how I want it to be.

ehh the “S” suspension is married to the ECU, im going to opt for base and mod it up real nice

Like manny’s V4X (modded up base model)

Full LEDs on both models?

The only problem is the 1299 high beams cause the low beams to turn off because the overall assembly would have been too bright to pass US regulations but on the V4, one side of the headlights is low beam and other side is high beam, and I’m pretty sure the low beam stays on now

I can add a diode to the wiring harness to retain the low beams whilst the brights are on. that’s on the to due list

I swapped out my yellow ugly bulbs for LED bulbs. And I also did the low beam cure on my 1299 like I did on my S1000R and S1000RR. On the 2 BMW models, the low beam right side would be on when in low beam. And the left side high beam would be on in high beam. I changed out the parking lights as well as low beam and high beam lights to LEDs and now when the low beam is on both right and left headlights are on. Same for high beams.

I used the same principle for my 1299 after upgrading the yellow lights to LED lights. So now when the high beams are turned on the low beams are on as well. Since Im running LED's and the power Im drawing when the high beams are on is still lower than stock halogen low beams I keep my high beams on all the time during the day and only turn them off at night.

Alright! I’m going to have you cure my sad headlight setup

I upgraded to H7 LEDs on my triumph.
Yellow/brown bulbs make the bike look so dated. Can you believe the “new” 2019 Triumph Daytona 765 still has halogen headlights

it’s a great thing that the entire 2020 Ducati SuperBike lineup offer exceptional LED headlights as standard!

I don't find the LED lights on my V4 that great at all. Nowhere near as good as the retrofit HID projector setup I had on my GSXR. If you do any night riding, you will see what I mean.

^ Yea, wondering if we can put in an upgraded 35/55w bulb or what the option is to get a bit more output on these bulbs. I did an upgrade on the 848 and was quite pleased. The 1199S had better lighting than the V4S.

Are the bulbs H-11? If so, the 4800 pure white would seem to be an option.

If you want a 20MY i’d wait. The economy and motorcycle sales are going to plummet. This time next year there will be tons on inventory and a V4S can be had for less than invoice. Watch.

oh no! My 1299 with dual LED (factory) low beams is absolutely incredible. Pretty much aIl I do is night riding

it’s good you did a projector retrofit instead of installing HIDs into reflectors.

Maybe I can find a RIDGID industries off-road LED light bar that fits

Why is the economy gonna be flushed down the toilet? I thought it was going to be great again. Perhaps gold backed once again while the US gov creates its own currency instead of a criminal private banking cartel

I will be patient, thank you!

The V4 headlights do not take bulbs. They are fully integrated LED's that are not replaceable. I have not pulled apart the headlight module yet, but I can tell you for LED integrated headlights they not impressive at all. I've done so many mods over the last 3 winter months to my V4S, that I'm at my limit. I'm going to ride it this summer and enjoy. Likely next winter, I am going to try and find a cheap used headlight module and look at the possibility of doing a bi-xenon HID projector retrofit (or maybe an LED projector retrofit) on the bike. Dual high/low projectors would be great on the bike. It may not be possible due to the compact nature that is achievable with LED designed headlight modules, leaving little room for retrofit. That is next winter's challenge. As it stands, I will be minimizing trips that involve night riding this year.

Yeah they’re sealed, you can’t do anything with them. I’m joking talking abt one of these:

I was told that the OEM LED dual Bi-LED setup on the 2020 S1000RR is pretty good. Maybe it would be possible to gut a factory Ducati set and replace with something like this. I’m sure there’s not much room in those Ducati housings

The Retrofit Source has been my go to

Not on your beautiful V4, only bikes equipped with halogen from factory, especially if they are projectors, otherwise it’s a full “retrofit” to install components that blow away the factory headlights.

below are pictures of my halogen replacement
