Full electronic Ohlins. DES is what makes the Ohlins on the S model unique.

That I can agree with. It is not an S but it not a base either. Anyway. Moving on. Dont wanna beat this to death. I did the same on my V2 and will be doing the same with the V4 - base model and Ohlins insert/TTX. Simple yet effective.

22 base with upgraded suspension. Nice improvement over my 20 base.
Track tested last weekend and very pleased.

Are they the NPX gas shocks off the R? I understand they are now standard on the S albeit in electronic form. There was a bit of cavitation debate on gas vs non-gas but who is riding them hard enough to say?

If we are discussing race use, then aftermarket race-spec ohlins is better than stock ohlins. Every day of the week. Electronic or static. Stock ohlins is made to a price point, has plastic components instead of aluminum, not the right coating on the fork legs, etc. etc. Stock ohlins is only slightly better than garbage, again for track use.

DES is arguable better for street, but clearly not for track use as the R demonstrates.

The R is a race homologation special and electronic suspensions are a no-no by race rules and not a statement about their worthiness for track use. This is an amateur rider forum, there's no pros here.

No one is talking about that. I'd fully expect $10K race forks to be better than OEM Ducati/Ohlins DES forks. The guy I was responding to inferred putting Ohlins on a base model somehow made it a S model.

Ok, for the sake of the argument, you buy a base model, and somehow get your hands on used DES stuff and put it on with forged wheels. Would you still call it a base model bike? Not sure why we still spinning around this crap at this point.

I saw gold fork legs and assumed thats what happened, didnt really zoom in and slice and dice the photo to the point I missed the rear not being electronic etc etc.

You also missed the point that it’s a modified base model and you decided to be a smart ... with a stupid and irrelevant question.

When a manufacturer makes something that manufacturer gives it a name. If you modify that thing later on you and decide to call it Betty for example… no one gives a .....

Uhlala, look at what we have here now; a true hero coming in with the chosen words. Please tell me more... interested to get "educated"

No slice and dice, the manual adjusters on the rear are easy to see.

Still a base, since the VIN code would still call it a base, as would your insurance and bank. This kind of goes back to the muscle car days where dudes would get a V6 beater and ham fist the V8 into it and try to pass it off as something its not.

To outfit a V4 with DES would be quite the undertaking.
