E-bikes will outperform IC eventually but there’s no substitute for the IC experience.

In the RC car world electric have been outperforming gas for quite a while even with the added weight they carry. The effect that had on the market and industry is that it made it easier to get into the hobby and be reasonably fast but the gas market hasn’t slowed down at all. The market has just grown.

I’d be happy owning an electric Vespa or something but anything sportier than that? Nope.

We’ll maybe one day you will get to ride one then you can make a more informed opinion. The ebike platform will eliminate 70% of subject matter on this board. Tuning, complicated engine management, exhaust, heat, radiators, fueling issues, ...... QS and gearboxes archaic TC and again you will see 2wd which will completely change performance dynamics.

when you consider all the factors, continuing to push ic platforms is like continuing to support phone booths and VHS tapes. It won’t even be close.

Like I said… there will be a performance and practical benefit to ebikes but that isn’t always a factor of influence when considering what is essentially a hobby fueled by passion.

You don’t ride your VHS tape when watching a movie so I don’t agree with that analogy.

Compare it to carbs for example. EFI is better in almost every way yet carb development is continuing and backed by a passionate fan base. The American OHV based engine market is huge with carbs, there’s even factory crate engine offerings utilizing carbs available today. What’s the reason behind this you may ask? Well, some people think it’s cooler, easier or more familiar to work on and I’ve seen comparisons where they’ve actually made more power than EFI setups.

I really haven't messed with RC stuff since the mid-late 90s but a friend owned a shop which sold them in the early 2000s. The gas cars were epically faster than electric at that time. I would think electric didn't eclipse gas until all the lithium battery technologies hit the market.

Emerging battery technologies will be what makes the electric vehicle market.

After waiting for close to a year to get my (numbered but not limited) V4SP, I do find it disappointing that they announce a new "better version" when I've only had mine a few months. It leaves a bit of sour taste in my mouth.
You expected technology progress stops because you bought SP model let me tell u nothing special about this bike,BST wheels and dry clutch? I bought 21 V4 base and added $10k worth parts and I can guarantee my it’s more special than SP

(just sayin')..This would need to be verified....;)

My Arrma Limitless arrives tomorrow. I’m looking for 200+ mph.

I sympathize with hdavidson . What reputable manufacturers usually do is create a niche model in that last model year that is arguably more valuable than the coming years’ base model, it’s good marketing strategy and aids customer retention.

The problem with the ‘21 SP is that it’s outmatched even by the base ‘22 V4, in every way imo.

You can put all the sprinkles and frosting on you want, sooner or later your going to address the moldy doughnut.

Lmfao [emoji1787] that mold will buff right out.

You’re being too harsh, I really don’t get all the hate on the V4. There’s no inherent deficiency in the platform that isn’t there in the V2.

Special things will remain special regardless of technological advancements.

Just hard to know what they are in the moment... although hard to argue that 500+ unit runs are that special to begin w. Seems like a bit of wishful thinking on buyers parts

It’s not about production numbers, well to me it isn’t. Honestly, the SP does nothing for me. Not because it’s not limited production but because it’s not special. Parts bin special maybe and I’m not a fan of the wheels… much prefer the mags. It doesn’t even come with an exhaust ffs.

Now if it came with something like CF rotors or some billet MCs and GP calipers, a trick exhaust… maybe some uprated cams? Then I’d be all in for it.

If something’s a special then it’s gotta stand out by definition. A number on the top yoke doesn’t do that!

yah u right I forgot about black paint job.verify? I got same rear sets
This is not the platform to argue with the Ducati fan boys. Everyone knows you can’t build a better bike than the the showroom bikes. It’s just not possible to improve on the OEM masterpieces.

Who’s arguing? He was complaining because he bought 21SP and now 22 SP it’s updated a bit.
