Hello all, I'm new here, and am looking to get into a Ducati, specifically a 2023 V2 Streetfighter. (the storm green is an amazing color)
Does anyone have one? What are your likes, and dislikes?
My primary concern here is I've never owned a Ducati, I have however owned Honda's and Kawasaki's so I have a few questions...
1. (and the most pressing) what are the relative costs of maintenance? I've heard from several people that the desmo service isn't cheap.
2. I've heard that the V2 (and most Ducati's) run very hot, and have severe vibrations, can anyone shed light on this?
3. I'm very mechanically inclined, and likely could do some of the maintenance myself, (not the desmo service) is this a crazy idea?
4. Are there any issues that are known that i should be aware of, prior to making this purchase?
Thanks for your time!

I'm only a recent SFV2 owner so I cannot give any real answers yet, but I have owned a lot of Ducatis so I will answer as best I can:
  1. Servicing isn't cheap, especially if you take it back to the dealerships. Shop around for a decent mechanic that is familiar and does service Ducs and you will find them to be often better mechanics as well as cheaper. It might take a few before you settle on the best mechanic
  2. My SFV2 engine temp runs very hot compared to my other Ducs, I'm not bothered by the radiant temp at the seat myself, doesn't seem bad to me. The SFV2 can be a little vibey if you don't give it enough revs, otherwise seems fine to me ... no different really to my others so I may just be used to it
  3. I would only do belts if a good mechanic taught me, otherwise stay away. But I think our motor is a chain driven cam anyway. It seems a very tightly packed bike to me, so not easy to work on
  4. No issues I know. As they are Euro choked a free flowing pipe would be in order (after warranty probably). The Ducati supplied Akra system is eye wateringly expensive but very beautiful, I've picked up an Arrow and UpMap myself

I see that some Ducati owners are doing the oil changes themselves, I don't know if warranty will be an issue. I don't do track so the heat is tolerable maybe since I have an Arrow slip on.

How did you upmap tune work on your SF V2? Back in September Upmap didn't have a tune for the SF V2, maybe they have it now. I went with Brent tuning and my V2 is good so far.

Yeah, oil changes on Ducs are easy, that said I haven't looked at the SFV2 yet. The hassle you can get into is resetting the service light if needed

I have the UpMap Device but still waiting for a map for either my MTS1260 or the SFV2. I might look into a Brentune instead.
