It’s been 17 years since I had my last Ducati. It was a D16RR Desmo. Loved the sound and power. Fast forward to 2025 and the tech difference is beyond my imagination. I’m hoping it makes me a better rider. Any thoughts on the bike itself?

talk about blasting into the future man...my 1199 and 1299 were dinosaurs compared to my newer V4....you will be whole next level...enjoy the process...change your oil often! and as usual, be ready to tweak and mod to make it how you want it...i dont think they are very street friendly out of the box.

good luck and document the adventure my man!

Hey, this is really soul searching. After my 1299 many years ago, I went to KTM, simply because I love twins, and the top Ducatis were all becoming V4's. I love the torque, the power delivery of twins. They are lighter. I imagine you felt that way with your Desmo. Finally, I bought a V4s Panigale which I rode for two years. Don't get me wrong, it is a lovely bike, I just did not connect with it. My biker mates also said I was slower 😑! I sold it and replaced it with a hardly used 1299 V2 Panigale FE. The owner was a 'bike in the living room' kind of guy. The last of the V2 Panigales in the Tri-Colore paint scheme. Most people here will disagree, but personally I love and much prefer the grunt. Do make sure you test ride, or borrow a V4 before you shell out all that cash. It is such a different bike to the old V Twins. Good luck.

I have sorta the same relationship with my V4, having owned and still own many twins. I like the V4 technology but also suspect that my evil twin would completely clear off on me with my 1198 when the roads devoid of straightaways. I spent so much time sorting my V4 I can't part with it. So, it having no real use in my life I'm building a motor so it can be even more stupid fast (these when you undo all the Ducati throttle management in the software are vicious). Then maybe I'll put it in the living room. On thing for sure I'd rather travel on a twin so I'm still using my 1098SF for that. BTW that bike's in the Dining room and if you could magnify enough would see it's drilled for safety wiring and has been allowed to retire after having been mercilessly flogged for years. I've not owned a Pani twin but am seriously thinking about a 1299.

The twin is a blast, but you wont regret the 4, its the practical version of the 16RR but with the kinks ironed out and a LOT less cash to buy and keep running.
