£250 (392USD) but will include a new chain and front sprocket. No thanks

How much has your dealer quoted?

I think I'll give it a miss. As much as I'd like to take it on the track, it's mainly a road bike.

Will also make it a better bike on the road, for lower speed riding.

Some people are saying it makes it more road worthy, others are saying it wants to " lift the front end to easy" ... So which is it? I don't have mine yet, and didn't get to do a test ride on one with a 39 sprocket. So I would love to know if I should leave the 39 or switch to the 41? I will be riding on the road commuting and usual weekend riding with friends.

-- for street riding the 41 would probably be the right choice...giving more low and mid range pull than the stock 39 tooth - it requires a new chain so it requires a further cash outlay on your part - you'll only know how well you like it after you're on the road using the tach :)

Thank you RD16RR!! Not sure ill ever do a track day on the 1199S. Just want to enjoy my first Ducati. My first stripper, hopefully not with to many issues....;)

-- It should be a great bike as a first Ducati - good luck with it, and enjoy each and every mile and ride.....you will certainly be pleased - don't worry about the issues (if any) that pop up....your dealer will handle them.....stay focused on enjoying the bike......own it, ride it, write your own article about it ! (Post it here too)

–- by the way....what part of CT are you from...?

RD16RR, I live in the south central Ct. just south of Hartford. I'm waiting till late March early April to pick up my "stripper". Last I spoke to the dealer, she's staying in the crate until just before I pick her up. :0

-- just asking....as myself and buddies have been Marcus Dairy (Danbury) groupies for years...(a couple of them come from oxford, and waterbury area)....they tore it down last year and its been replaced by a strip mall, but since old habits die hard we still meet there (now Panera Bread) - we're a good bunch, so bring the new bike by if only to show it off :)

i assume that will be 2 sprockets front and rear. a chain. no carrier same flange? for that price?

Haven't got a quote yet, he's looking into it. Can't say I'm happy if it ends up being the $390 you got. I would indeed like the 41T. I do low speed commute and mountain rides only. Low speed commute would benefit from smother low end for sure. But just slightly, so another $400 on the bike, not so sure. Just burns a bit as I'm about to put her in to swap out the spring as well, so that's another $300. This next shop visit is getting expensive real fast.

It sounds like they are just giving us a discount on a replacement rear 41T sprocket. A sprocket and carrier are only about $200. I have not seen a carrier-less sprocket for sale, but that is what we have now, so I am thinking that is what the discounted one is, so it could be only $50 or so.

Had it done in EU this week, normal price for the sprocket and chain. The installation cost is for Ducati, only need to pay for the parts. It will get the latest upmap as well, appearantly the latest available is from mid2013.
I see some guys already got the upmap in feb2013, i assume the upmap from mid2013 is a newer version.

I was told a 14 sprocket front is too much, it is the equivalent of a 43 sprocket at the end.

Its normally 1 down at the front is equivalent to 2 & a half at the rear.... Not 4..
