Finished the install and just got back from a test ride. Very positive change, pulls from lower in the range. Can't wait to get it on the track.

Took me about 2 hours start to finish, pretty simple installation.

Wait, you installed it yourself? Hey guys, we don't have to have our dealers install it, we can do it ourselves! Damn, wish I had known that :(

If I had to take it to the dealership for the little things then it would still be stock!

Does it make much difference to first gear at low revs? For around town could do with a little lower drive although it already wheelies so much on the power in 3rd and 4th, is it too lairy now?

It lifts the front end a bit easier. Its easier to drive in traffic with the lower gearing. Riding on the freeway I dont notice much of a difference, RPM is a bit higher but at that point it does not really matter.

Sounds good, thanks.

I'm sure you mean lower in the speedo range and not lower in the rev range. Unless of course you have some of them new KERS sprockets... ;)

Lower in the rev range. I don't really look at the speedo, unless there is a cop nearby.

BTW if you are going to do this yourself be prepared with lots of rags. The factory chain lube is a sticky mess with the consistancy of snot! On my bike there was a bunch of extra built up behind the front sprocket cover that I had to clean up.

You do realize that changing sprockets makes zero difference in what power your bike makes at a given rpm, right? Zero. Just raises the rpm at a given road speed, thus my point.

No...but it does increase the engines mechanical advantage over the tire. It acts as a torque multiplier, not a horsepower multiplier. Horsepower is an artificial construct based on torque. Forget ponies.....feel the torque!

If you don't believe it works this way, double the size of your rear sprocket and hang on.

Oooh... don't tempt me....lol

make it some 4 caliper on the rear wheel show machine! now that would be a first.. :)

All the stunt guys put dinner plate rear sprockets on their bikes for those idle speed wheelies! :D
