So I'm thinking of trading my 1199 for the 899, for those who have both or have experience with both....will... the rear sets from the 1199 work on the 899 also the fender eliminator, race bodywork and the Termis (slips) fit...is the rear axle ID the same as the 1199 too or will I have to buy different Pitbull Restraint adapters? thanks

Have you got nothing else to do? Are you just bored and just want to swap so that it will give you something to do.

Actually I just think the 899 will make a better track bike? but I just wanted some feedback as to what cycle parts were interchangeable? do you have either bikes??

rear axle is not the same.

I reckon wait a few years and get a good used one.
There'll be plenty around.
Then mod the .... out of it with the best/lightest gear you can afford for your track days;)

If only I had the patience and will power to wait??:)

You would not happen to know the dimensions would you?? my trailer is only set up for the pit-bull and they don't list the adapters for the 899, we made our adapters for the 1199 when they first came out, maybe I can do the same before I pick up the bike? thanks

Tried contacting/emailing them? PitBull is pretty good about returning email inquiries.

I know some manufacturers like to share bits whenever possible, maybe the axle is the same as the Monster 696? Or hell, even the 999/749.

The 899 axle is not the same as any of the monsters or the 749/999, it's larger in diameter.

Just traded my 1199 for a 899 last week. I dont regret it - so smooth. I will probably pick up another 1199 in the future but the 899 does everything i want except its a bit slow coming off of a 1199.

Did i mention i miss the power of the 1199.....

My 1199 was a base so now I have an excuse to get a R.

I just bought my wife an 899...the power difference is big. Wide open throttle on the 1199 is a bad idea if you aren't on the track or have plenty of open road...on the 899 it is amazingly controllable and hardly scary the way the power rolls on...even in race mode.

My 1199 scares the .... out of me sometimes....but I kind of like that.

:)

What makes the 899 easier to ride?

The 1199 is lighter and if you ride it in wet mode should have similar power output as the 899.
