999 or 848??

Haha....it is all good...especially since u still adventure thru the forum even after purchasing the 1098r...all Ducatis are nice at the end of the day....if grunt is ur real issue go up 2 to 3 in the rear...1199 has it all then

How can you say that

If its all about the $ then go buy a huysong piece of .... and wallow in the depreciation you've saved.

Otherwise, buy the latest, hottest and sexiest piece of metal and enjoy it :D

Someone else can count their savings when I'm done with my fun:cool:

+1

Did not buy my 1199 as an investment but rather than something I want ride/enjoy years down the road [excuse the pun].

My vote is the 848 because of the availability in parts will be greater than the 999 on down the road. It will get harder and harder to find 999 parts. But if you want something more rare than 999 is a good choice. 848 will get you good bang for buck

Funny, I never buy used, motorcycles or cars. I don't want someone else riding MY bike first. And, as others have said, I didn't buy it as an investment. That's what my stock portfolio is for.

Aside from that, I would go for the 848, but maybe a 2013. ;)

I had a 999 since 06. It was a great bike, and never let me down. Ergos suck! My hands were always falling asleep. I did put a pc3 with a custom map for it to run better. Then it ran like a ..... ape. Look wise I would have to admit that the 848 is a better looking bike.

Definitely go for the 848. It has the Iconic Ducati 1098, 1198 look, single swingarm and twin pipes. The 999 looks like it was designed in Korea.

Well, it HAS been a year. I wonder with what he went with and how he's been living with it.

My 2c......get the 999......have ridden both extensively,848 is nice and much better to look at but not as hardcore.....
I love the grunt and snort of the 999...get a set of termi's on it...
In my opinion and a few others i ride with it sounds better than my Pani with its Termi's..
Best option if you can is to test ride both and see what you prefer!!!
999 for me was waaay ahead of its time and def a future classic...hence why i kept mine...:D

I got a 2008 848 and if I was you I get a 1098 like a 2007, let me tell you why: if you decide to track your 848 full time I can almost guarantee you will blow the motor up in one season, if you get a 848 before the evo you won't get the big brembo brake, a 2008 848 have 140 hp and 1098 have 160 hp if you can ride 140hp you can handle 160hp you can pick up a 1098 for around $8000.00 and it will be better then 999 or 848 in MY BOOK.

For me the choice was easy, I have owned a 1098S and a 1198s and have tracked both those bikes...I'm sure the 848 would also perform as good if not better at the track. Those bikes are great machines but my 999S felt like it was so easy to ride"” as if it was definitely made for the track....and now it's my track-bike..

screw the 999 and the 848.

The 848 was like a torture rack compared to the 1199.

Just save up and get the Panigale and you will thank me later.

^ :D Sounds about right.

If you aren't fully comfortable with big bikes then I would buy a beater bike.Use that for however many thousands of miles it takes you to get comfy.I do have an 848 and 1199 like you mentioned as your possible buys.Without a doubt in my mind I would suggest you get your practice on a cheap bike, sell it when ready and go get a Panigale. They are worlds apart in many ways.I have seen used 1199 base ones go for low around $14k.I even saw one for $12.5k somewhat local to me cause he was getting an R model!

Not that I hate my 848 they just aren't in the same ball game to compare them fairly.

I've never owned a 999 so I cant tell you how comfortable or not it is,etc. With that said I do plan on buying one sooner or later!
