..... So I buy a set of DP rear sets from a fellow forum member to find when I finally open the box and go install them

1) missing 3 bolts

2) missing one of the shift rods

3) 2 of the rose joints are frozen stiff, (they are also referred to as bango bolts, depending what side of the planet your on)

4) 1 of the hole for the heel guard is stripped out.

5) the left foot peg is also frozen and won't flex up.

The only thing I can say is this is the first time I've ever felt ...... over.

I mean I can get a die and fix the hole, I can always find bolts and screws, and I may even be able to buy/find another GP shift link. However, till this all happens I'm SOL. This is what it feels like when the music stops and you find you don't have a seat :(

Have you tried to resolve this with the seller?

Assuming you have I think it's fair to post a name so other forum members don't get burned in the future.

The name's easy enough to find in the classifieds.

I'd be wary of anyone who uses this forum only as a place to buy/sell. Ducati.ms seems to have a successful policy of requiring a minimum number of posts/contributions (meaningful ones - not just post bumps) from the community before you're allowed to post in the classifieds.
Admins here should consider something similar.

I think they do here I remember when I first joined I couldn't post in here until 30 posts or so.

There should be a resolution/bad seller sub-forum IMO, sorry to hear of your troubles.

(edit: GUESS NOT! 28 posts and I'm here, but there WAS something because I could not post initially)

They look fine in the picture, I wonder if the item sent was not the item pictured thou? all that damage for only 200 miles? odd. I would ask zohsix if he knows the guy

Sorry to hear that has happened to you... I had ordered something (Frame Sliders) earlier in the year that were "Brand New"... Only issue was I didn't get any moutning hardware and I was missing one bracket.

Was an absolutepain to get the required hardware and have a friend mill up another bracket to make it all work... After all the hard work, it is a good product. I hope that you at least have a similar result.

Truth be told, the rear sets look fine. I called the guy and told him of what I found. He said the work was done by the dealer, installed and removed, so he didn't notice anything. The packing and shipping seemed fine, and a lot of the little pieces were zipped tied together so nothing would go missing.

So needless to say I'm a little confused as to why such care was put into the sale and shipping to find such things wrong or missing.

Giving the guy the benefit of the doubt, I've seen dealers do pretty stupid .... and never even tell the customer, if he isn't savvy about stuff.

Let you know what happens.

You are protected by PayPal (not sent as gift) if item is not described. It's not like the old days where you had to buy it through eBay to get any type of protection. Send them back registered and file a claim. Sellers should know what they are selling. ps, take lots of pics.

Well, it sucks, but if it's any consolation:
1) missing 3 bolts
OSH, $2

2) missing one of the shift rods
This is a problem if you need the rod if it's not included. If you're using the same shift pattern it won't be an issue.

3) 2 of the rose joints are frozen stiff, (they are also referred to as bango bolts, depending what side of the planet your on)
1 hour soaked in lube and you'll be fine.

4) 1 of the hole for the heel guard is stripped out.
Bigger issue. You'll either need to tap the hole one size larger or drill it out and put a bolt on the opposite end.

5) the left foot peg is also frozen and won't flex up.
Lube. Or just leave it as is, fixed rearsets are a plus.

Oh yeah, or just raise hell with the guy who sold you the rearsets.

1) I have bolts

2 I want GP shift, so I need the 103mm rod, (don't have that one)

Heel guard..hmmm not what I want to do to $1100 rear sets.

Will try soaking the rose joints tomorrow, but I need that "dog bone" shift link for GP shift as well.

If you have, or know someone that has the parts I need let me know.

Cheers,

If the seller was honest and the dealer has handled all install/removal i'd suggest having the seller contact their dealer to check before doing anything else. Decent chance the missing parts are sitting in a bag with the seller's name on it somewhere at the dealership.

You can also use a helicoil insert.

If you look for the thread "how to change to GP shift" on the forum you'll find anti-hero posted a copy of the instructions. It is Part #8 in that picture. I also need the 103mm rod. In that pic they're marked #12 and #13, but for the life of me I wouldn't know which is which without measuring them.

Let me know what you want for them.

Cheers,

Thamer

Post his name so we call all avoid getting burned.

I have know every detail about every item I have ever sold.

His excuse is BS.

I'm giving him the chance to contact his dealer and get back to me. After that I'll post.

Thanks for the support.

So the question is what would you want him to do?
1-refund your money?
2-give you a discount?

don't get wrong I think people need to check their .... before the put it for sale,I don't care who dismount the part. if you put your stuff for sale you are responsible not the dealer or my friend Pedro

I will ask for a good discount if he can't not find the parts.
I alway pay with Paypal as buying good, if the seller don't want to pay for the fee I just wont buy it from him.
