A little over 2,100 miles on my 1299S...

It should be noted that your 2011 S1000RR is not a 2015, which you have not ridden.

The 2015 S1000RR runs cooler, believe me, I rode both. If I was commuting every day or taking longer trips, I'd say it's a better bike in terms of comfort factor - and ultra smooth. The 1299 can be a bit of an oven in traffic - big pistons, relatively small radiator, lots of heat

No offense but it should also be noted that you did rides on both of those bikes, whether it be a demo ride or borrowed a friends bike for a few hours. He had 53,000 miles on his. Owning a bike through different conditions and weather has an effect on how hot the bike will run, a small upgrade to the cooling system on the S1K in this case a seperate oil cooler, isn't going to make much difference if at all.

Yes.. The 1299 is definitely hotter than my S1000K was, at least it is in stop and go traffic. Outside of that scenario, there's zero difference n terms of the rider feeling heat. Out on any road that you can keep your speed above crawling, I feel absolutely no heat from the 1299.

Interestingly, the 1299 runs a bit cooler in general than my BMW did. The engine temps on the freeway are almost identical, but through the twisties, the 1299 seems to run a bit cooler.

I am running distilled water and water wetter instead of antifreeze in my bike... Can't run antifreeze on the track.

Cheers.

I am going to try this, I agree with you. I noticed after 250 miles the heat on the bike seemed to die down a tad bit, it's the same temp as the BMW. You and Antihero have inspired me to commute to work more often.

Heat on the demo 1299S I rode was roughly as per the 1199 I rode - hot-ish on the thighs at slow and standstill, barely noticeable at any kind of road speed.

I did take an extended 4 hour ride on the 2015 S1000RR which seemed much hotter than my previous gen S1000RR. Remarkably so.

2015 S1000RR seemed to radiate heat from the whole engine area of the bike and frame, the 1299S concentrated in the thigh area.

Weird - I didn't notice any significant heat on the demo '15 S1000RR I rode and I noticed it big time on the 1299 at stoplights. With that said, when you're moving it's basically a non-issue on the 1299

This just proves you have to demo ride any bike you plan on purchasing, this stuff is somewhat subjective

I demoed both the 1299s and 15 rr back to back the same day. The Ducati was hot and ran a constant 218 the whole time on a clear day at about 88 degrees. Didn't notice it at all except at red-lights. The BMW got warm but ran about 189. The heat wasn't an issue on either bike at speed but I could see how the Ducati would he a nightmare in commuting traffic. Definitely worth it though.

Shilling/Scrapper...did you mod you your bike with rb module or just leave it as is..I have one the race rb on my 1199 and really like it. The 1299 seems to run superb without it however I'm sure it would have positive effects...just curious.

Mine is totally stock right now. I want to put around 6,000 miles on it before modifying it, so I can get a real feel for where the weaknesses are.

Quite frankly, it's the best bike stock I have ever owned and I have owned over 30 bikes. I will probably add the Termignoni carbon slip on and a RapidBike module and see how it goes.

Once I get it to the track, I will have a lot better idea of what I want to change.

For just now, it is working perfectly for my daily commute and weekend fun on the twisties.

Cheers.
