A new 2014 Ducati 749 could be in the works...

Ducati has been fairly transparent with dealership owners when it comes to their current model offering. A couple weeks ago, one source told me they recently toured Ducati's official headquarters and while they spent considerable time with Ducati's current lineup, they also mentioned there was only one motorcycle that was roped off from access. This particular bike had a cover on it, and could be seen down the corridor, but was impossible to approach. Sure the rumors alone could fly on this one, and I had no intent of making this thread until just now...

I just had a conversation with the same source at Ducati who had this conversation about the 1199 with me...

Some of this is already known, but some of this is new... Yes, it's well known that Ducati is set to release a new "mini version of the Panigale" and while rampant rumors have been flying around that it may be released as the Ducati 799, there's also been rumors that it could be released as an 849 model.

The new bit of info I'm hearing is that Ducati is working incredibly hard at making the "smallest, lightest version of the 1199 Panigale" that they can. Every effort and focus is being made to "miniaturize" the Panigale. It's also worth noting that we may see Ducati release this as "749cc version of the Panigale for 2014."

This entire post is not official and is 100% rumor. While my sources would discuss the matter with me, they were not able to provide me anything definite either.

For the sake of conversation, which version of the smaller Panigale would you like to see - 749, 799, or 849?

That would be cool seeing how well the 675 and 750s do. I would love a 380lbs 750 track bike. Say 150hp. Sold

I've got a pretty good source that reason for the delay is they are having a hard time packaging the mini-Panigale into the same design. I was also told Ducati is also having a hard time getting the new engine design to work. Look to see the mini-Panigale with titanium rods. This is all speculation, but I really hope this bike happens. Daddy needs a new track toy, and this could potentially fit the bill.

Again this is all rumor. They will never find that mini-cam I hid in Bologna.

So you would buy a 749 instead of a Daytona or a Jap 600??? As a track bike I am talking here....

Yesss. I want to sell my r6 for a daytona but a mini panigale would be great. Why not? My 1199 is as light as my r6 so how would the mini be?

I wouldn't buy any rumor.

The Panigale is as light or lighter than any 600cc bike on the market. Imagine the possibilities of a 749, 799, or 899 in the same package, but even lighter.

Handling wise the bike has so much potential with it's narrow v-twin engine, frameless design, and power to weight ratio.

Well obviously conjecture right now anyway but having ridden the Daytona and absolutely loving it its hard to imagine finding the mini 1199 better... If and when it comes the comparo tests are going to be fascinating....

So I should just go get a 675r lol gotcha

Was told by dealer personnel that it would be an 849 and definately for 2014.

Have a hard time believing that since I'm usually ahead of them as far as info is concerned.

I wouldn't necessarily be in the market for the Pani's little sister but I am interested in seeing the bike come to fruition and am particularly excited about the possibility of Ducati taking a "smallest, lightest" configuration approach. If this is the desired end goal then they can't go wrong with a 749 setup.

I believe a 849 Panigale would replace the current 848 Evo. Considering that many folks whom work at Ducati prefer the 848 Evo as their own personal track bike, then I would speculate that the 849 Panigale would be an even better track bike than the 1199.

The Spy Photos doing the rounds at the moment also point to a mini Panigale.

Other than knowing the popularity of the 848 Evo inside Ducati, I would stress that I am not quoting any internal sources related to a potential 849 Panigale.

748

I'm glad I saw this thread. I'm currently looking to upgrade my track bike to an 848, but if this speculation proves true this would be a super option to compliment my 1199 on the track.

I hate to ask for more speculation, but any idea on what a ballpark price would be from your experience based on other models?

I'm with Caliduc. I can't see a 749 over a 849 being accepted. Not that it wouldn't be enough. But the norm is always going up in cc. Either way, I can't wait to see a new bike in the family!!!

Ducati 899 2014, rumors of exclusive new engine and swingarm

Ducati has traced the lines of the heir of the 848, a motion of "half" displacement that followed partially as seen on the 1199 Panigale, with a few caveats that can make us reflect on the future of the House Bolognese road.

The rumors and reports gathered exclusively by IFG are substantial and structural make up the puzzle of what we can say, there will be a motorcycle designed for racing by virtue of the FIM regulations that restrict the airspace of a twin.

If they wanted to build a Ducati Supersport "Stock" should opt for an engine from 799 cubic centimeters and deal with the technical commissions, so it was not: the next motion will be called Ducati 899 and will have that capacity.

The engine, of course 90 ° L-Twin engine, it will be completely new but built according to what has been seen on 1199. Of about 155 horsepower maximum power limiter set at 11,500 rpm.

Similarly, for 50%, philosophy telaistica: the engine will be carrier-type. The biggest news concerns the swingarm Ducati abandoned the single-sided in favor of a new dual-sided "banana"-structure already used by Aprilia.

All eyes at EICMA 2013, the International Motorcycle Exhibition to be held in November at the Fiera Milano-Rho: Ducati 899 could be the real surprise this year, only to be marketed in 2014.
