Hold on, that’s a twin isn’t it? 1199 or 1299?

Yea I don’t know much about the earlier bikes.

That does look rad though.

Slightly off topic but I’ve been thinking about slapping a Diavel headlight on an SFV4 for sometime now.

Thoughts?

Another new bike from these clowns we don’t need, a better bike yes. Best thing Ducati could do is start a special project division, hire some guys who actually know how to build top shelf stuff and offer it up as an addition to the lineup. Other than that you’re going to get another plastic, cheap part laden POS. You have a lot of guys out there changing a lot of components. .... it just give the high rollers the bike they actually want as an option. Everyone who sees the Pierobon cafe racer or the Sands SL or the Sands Desmo says the same thing, ...., I want that but the brand continues to churn out some POS plastic transformer looking thing.

Yeah the factory just continues to spit out a bunch of plastic junk when is it ever gonna end probably never its just getting worse n worse the good ol days are long gone.

Curious about what "good ol days" bike you want Ducati to release? @endodoc , @Mick1976 ? I can miss the beautiful lines of the older bikes, the modern designs are not always catching my eyes. But apart from that, I miss nothing of the ol days poor reliability, short service intervals, jerky throttle response and sketchy handling. Some will call this "character". I simply call it bad bikes. Bike development is a good thing in my book. Ducati have never released such good bikes from a user perspective, as they are right now. Sticking with old technology would maybe attract some enthusiasts but apart from them, the sales would drop like a stone and new customers would be quite sparse. Take a look at HD. They tried to do just that, and it didn't go well and their bikes are crap by todays standard.
That's my personal view :)

How many 98's, 99's and V4/V2's have you built, setup and ridden? The older platforms were far more reliable and quality in most aspects was much better now all you get is a plastic transformer of a bike from the factory. A properly built bike with the right parts and tuned well thats a different story.

It's just a numbers game. They need X performance at X price range to compete with the Japs and BMW, with X number of production to hit X profit to be able to race to get X amount of sales traction for the brand. All the top bikes are in a fairly close price range for that reason. They say "rich guys don't spend on motorcycles, just cars."
Most people who buy Ducati can barely afford them, same as the other brands.
So they come out with SP, and Super Legero as tests to see how far they can push the price. If there was a huge demand for top end they'd go there. It is growing though.
But right now we get a fairly robust aftermarket parts market including some top shelf. That doesn't totally suck.
What would suck is if no one made anything for Ducati bikes. We'd be out there with our welders instead of ordering online. That's the good old days.

Nowadays = a computer does it for you way better
Good'ol days = steel

Nowadays = it's plastic and half the weight, but you can spend a lot and have fiber stuff instead
Good'ol days = it'll take a leg off if you low-side

Nowadays = It's over 200hp and can bake potatoes
Good'ol days = it's fking loud and totally legal

Nowadays = extended warranty, free road side assistance
Good'ol days = the tool kit under the seat was real and you could rebuild with it

This should be a new thread.

Fancy expensive products with low/negative margins is a great way to drive company into the ground. There are still plenty of V4SLs sitting on dealer showroom floors with no where to go.

Yea tell that to Koenigsegg you dick head. Post up the link to all these Dealers where ALL these SLs are

And Rolex, Hermes, and how about Gulfstream. Check the waiting list on any high end biz jet or automobile. Your post solidify what a complete .... up you are. Call Motorapido, or Pierobon or The DucShop and see what the waiting list is for builds and high end parts. What an idiot. Top end custom builds from Ferrari have a 5 year back order list.

Also ya jerk off, if you bothered to actually read the post, you would see that I had written “as an option” never said dump the current lineup. Many companies have custom shops and they all do extremely well.

My guess is a Streetfighter V4 SP or something like that. I don't think they'll do a V2 Streetfighter, sounds like too much work for Ducati and they'll struggle to explain how it's different from the Monster platform. A parts bin Streetfighter V4 makes more sense. After all, they likely had plans to release a Pikes Peak SFV4 originally before the Dunn tragedy. They gotta figure out some way to get rid of all the parts in that bin they ended up not using.
