How so? Other than straight up suggestions if bypassing it, the others were identifying what the issue was and that abs isn't fitted. Rather than taking the side panel off, if the rear brake line goes forward then it's to the abs, if it goes directly to the back brake then no abs.

It's not our fault that the mechanic doesn't have a clue!

If the bike has the pump, it is clearly identifiable by just looking through the slot in the side fairing. You don’t need to remove anything. If the pump isn’t on the bike, you will definitely know it.

Pretty hard to not see the large black box sitting there

1- Mechanic told me it has ABS.
2- Previous owner told me it has ABS.
3- I am the only one dumb here but with a 2 min research even I know it has ABS.

Question never was whether it has ABS or not. Question is no ABS light comes on at all and my OOPI has failed due to this. I am trying to figure out if this is an easy fix or not. If not i will take it to the same mechanic, he will diagnose and then fix it.

Even it does have ABS, then your dash may have been replaced with the non-ABS version

As mentioned, it has other functions too. I couldn't tell you that non-ABS have it or not, but there's still traction control on your bike which needs wheel speed.

As Endo said, look for the pump, maybe the fuse also. Your dash doesn't support ABS either way.

This is supposedly 2012 1199S owner's manual with abs

Relax guys. I am away. I am gona check that out as soon as I get back and send pictures after taking the fairing off. And it's not like I am not listening to anyone, infact I hope and wish you guys are right. It's just that a mechanic has failed the inspection saying your abs isn't working. I tried arguing saying as long as my brakes work, why do you care if abs is working or not. He said if the bike has one, it has to be working in order to pass the inspection. And he added your bike has abs i can simply see and it has to work in order to pass the inspection.

Again, I am gona take the fairing off and check as soon as i get back home.

Ps: previous owner's comment: "It certainly does have ABS. You can see the abs rotors on the inside of the front and rear rotors."

Dude, Mick doesn’t have ABS, I don’t have ABS, a lot of guys here have deleted ABS, we all still have the phonic wheel (that’s the correct verbiage for what you are calling the “ABS ring) the non abs bikes have the same phonic wheel so let’s not continue to let that be a point in assessing the validity of your particular bike having ABS. As Disco stated the phonic wheel provides wheel speed data for a variety of telemetry besides ABS.

Which side do i look at? Sorry that might be dumb but i am not too knowledgeable.

How do i convince the mechanic now so that he passes my inspection lol. May be i should ask him to prove that it has abs to begin with lol. I am mechanically illiterate and don't know much about bikes. But mechanic with 15 years being adamant and previous owner not knowing that it doesn't have ABS is bizarre and funny.
