Aero Attachments

I LOVE carbon as you can tell, but not sure if that area of bike would look right with carbon on it. hmmm. maybe I should take the set I have in a box here and get them carbonized??

If Gianandrea Fabbro wanted this look...

Ah, the Troy Bayliss Aero kit. He asked for them to increase the wind protection which also add a few MPH up top.

I don't mid the look though I'm not a fan of after thought add on kits. After all, if Gianandrea Fabbro wanted this look, he would have designed the Panigale with the extra width from the start.

I kinda like them too...fit looks good. They weren't included in my box of goodies either, tho I asked the dealer about them. He told me nada for the base.

By the way guys, when you fit them there is two small holes, you need to get a small drill, and drill into the top of the fairing and put two small flat headed self tapping screws. Don't worry it is behind where the side faing bolts on, you can't see anything. This stops any vibration and will hold them securely. I also put 3m film under, no problems, as I said, it sort of completes the bike, and originally was only meant for the S and the Tri so I guess Ducati changed their mind.

Enjoy

Yup :p

Slightly reminiscent of a Hammerhead :D

LMFAO!!! Good one X:D It actually looks a lot better than I thought...the seams don't seem to be too noticeable and the fit is good. Still not sure if I will install mine.

Actually the designer Gianandrea Fabbro did design these from day one, in an interview with him on the design on what aspects he was most proud of he said " I added these small fairing pieces to each side of the fairing to give extra wind protection, you do not notice this edge to the front fairing until you are closer to the bike, but I wanted it have a look of the super mono about its shoulders. These will be supplied on the up spec models"

You will also notice on the RS and race fairings it is cast in. Not really an afterthought.

Cheers

As an aside, I wonder if these aero wings would have any effect on the supposed sometimes reported "weave" at high speed?

I am not saying there is a weave, I do not even have my bike yet, just a thought based on a couple of comments some have made.

Funny how Fabbro left these off all his original sketches and clay models with Troy touting to one interview how "he asked for them". Truth may never be known but I suspect the fact that they wanted the extra width for the Superstock fairings dictated that they needed to have them on a production bike.

I admit, Fabbro should be proud of these as they do fit very well and only on close inspection would anyone suspect that they are not part of the factory formed front fairing.

I had mine installed for one week and removed for one week prior to making my decision. They do look good though I personally prefer the look without and view them as a place where water and dirt will collect, thus decided to not use the attachments.

All this being said, this is only MY opinion and as such has no bearing on anyone deciding if they install the Aero attachments or not.

With or without, it is still the best looking bike on the market, which I think we can all agree on.

Quite like the look. From reading the forum I had some misgivings about them, I'd seen an earlier pic on which I didn't like them fitted. Looking again it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would look.

Perhaps a pic or 2 from a distance as suggested above?

I like these fairings.

As for the real life benefit, they help the bike making a better use of the air flow and thus having less wind resistance, which explain why you can go faster by some kph and why you get a better stability.

You have such gimmicks also on the BMW S1000RR, with the plexiglass covers which try to do the same thing, although in a different fashion.

As for my two cents, I rather like the Ducati proposal than the BMW one, which looks quite cheap and pièce rapportée. Ducati definitely made a better job at this, even though this solution has many haters.

I will put them on mine, as soon as I will have customized my wind screen and changed the stock levers. I will add some 3M paper or something alike on the fitting joints to protect the paint if ever I would change my mind, but otherwise, I don't see anything against the fairings.

$200 shipped. $75 for stock seat. I'd be happy to sell mine.
Shipping is continental USA only. Other areas would be more.
