Aftermarket Carbon fiber heat shield?

I ordered/recieved their CF key guard, matt finish looks fine on the outside, kind of rough on the inside.
How has the exhaust guard held up? Any issues? I ordered one from Carbonvani over 3 months ago and I'm tired of waiting.

Good points, it looks great compared to the metal 'thing'.
Heat is reduced a lot (frame still gets hot so I guess thats from the engine mounts and not the exhaust)

I bumbled along at 20mph for 3 miles (god that was tedious) and got the temp upto 97 deg C and was really impressed until I got home.

Getting off the bike it was now at 103c and Inspecting the cover I could see a bubble that I pushed back in with a cloth around my finger and its a little brown around the screw mounts. Really glad I stuck reflective material on the inside (it comes bare). So dunno how long it will last, its a shame if it doesnt as I found it really effective.

I'll see what its like with a proper ride tomorrow
Daveiggy-What brand is this heat shield? Where did you get it?

Nope, I added the gold foil myself. It was never specified in the auction so nothing to contact them about really.

This is mine, from the same guy - so maybe they upgraded he onstuction, or forgot to add the liner.

Quick update on my CDT carbon heat shield.....it has already started to melt and turn yellow in several places (about 150 miles). I took it off and put the stock shield back on. Now i have a very expensive coffee table piece! I will post pictures soon.

Really?? Darn...was thinking of ordering one already. Maybe Its best to keep the stock oem metal heatshield and just thermal wrap it instead? Hmmmmmmmmmm

thanks for the early post on how to install the heat guard.....makes me miss my BMW bikes a bit...omg, what you have to do just to get a darn heat guard off and on!!!! i like the looks of it, love the weight savings, let's see how long it lasts and what kind of an effect the heat tape will have.

and thanks to Motowheels for getting the Carbonvani shield to me as promised ;)

You're probably not riding enough. :)

Hahaha ah.......hah!

Gunny was saying the same stuff. The carbon that came with the full Termi's is still asmshiney and glossy as new a year later. Different autoclave and impregnating techniques, I presume.

bad news. went 10 miles to my first destination, two of the three heat guard bolts (third was out of its hole) were missing and burning had already commenced. those bolts were most definitely secure prior to departing, not sure how it happened, oh well. not sure if i'm going to re-up on another or not, seems like an expensive experiment.

not happy. :(

If you want to do it right, get the Composite Ceramic Carbon shield from Ilmberger.

RC, $131, no issues - but if any of you need to spend more just to feel better, don't listen to me...

It's not a carbon product. It has nothing to do with preference, it will NOT melt etc like CF if his bolts were to come out again. It has nothing to do with feeling better...

You've just gone sour :(.
