Aftermarket Carbon fiber heat shield?

isnt all of this a moot point with the new heat system coming this month from Ducati?

Well, the dumb thing is if any of you were to change your coolant to something like distilled water/water wetter and saw a 20-30 degree drop of engine temp, some you you would quit your bitching.

And I think the CF is more bling than anything else.

If you want to do it right, get the Composite Ceramic Carbon shield from Ilmberger.

thanks, Trans, i'll be on the lookout for one. I agree; the carbon is bling, but i think it's a good looking piece (in comparison to the oem alum one) and it even offers a slight reduction in weight. maybe Trauma has a point; if the carbon ones aren't going to work then it's senseless to spend a lot of money on them.

I think shiftech sells them as well.

It's not a carbon product. It has nothing to do with preference, it will NOT melt etc like CF if his bolts were to come out again. It has nothing to do with feeling better...

You've just gone sour :(.

Well mine is CF, and the bolts have come out (still out until I get a replacement), and it still looks like the day I bought it. It has a foil liner which I suppose helps. But it is matte, but they make gloss as well:

RC-III Matte Series features:
● Longer time resistance aging.
● Better thermal shield and resistance impact performance.
● More precise assembly hole.

^ thanks, Trauma, placed an order for one.

Why are the bolts coming loose/dislodged? Is heat the culprit? Or are the screws the wrong size for the given part?

Use some loctite man. I lost several myself on my stock shield before I switched.

Trauma how can they offer the stuff so cheap? It's 100% CF?

Thanks Trans, maybe red loctite next go around.

My bolts bottomed out, needed to be shorter. I think this part is thinner (or was when I ordered it way back) than OEM. They are still out, one is still in holding it.

just installed.....liking the part that Trauma pointed me to. its design seemed even better than the Carbonvani one in that it has its own built-in stand-offs of sorts (helps raise the carbon shield off the pipe mounts) and even comes with heat washers. love the looks, much better than the glossy carbon against the other matte parts.

time will tell how it actually works!

Awesome job! Now people may believe me that RC makes quality CF- you don't have to pay double unless you want to brag you did. The last piece I got was the brake line cover (not the whole swingarm) it makes a nice contrast against the arm.

as to the blue vs red loctite: i'm not sure it even matters in an application like this given the amount of heat that the pipe throws off. even after using loctite blue i found the bolts to have come loose. just sayin'...

Thanks, Trauma!
