Did the Oberon replacement 750mi ago. Thought this problem was solved for good because the bike has been flawless ever since. Did a shakedown ride today ahead of a 450mi trip tomorrow and the air in the line is worse than ever. Gonna bleed it tomorrow after it sits with the clutch lever ziptied to the bar all night.

Maybe now it just needs to be bled every 700mi instead of every 100mi? Jeebus!

Any thoughts on the culprit here? Defective master?

I have recently installed the oberon slave and noticed that air bubbles form sooner than when I had the stock slave. Good to know I'm not alone in noticing this! I'm thinking of trying the CNC slave next as I just installed one on my monster and its quality/fit is MUCH better than the oberon.

I have a friend that bought the CNC slave, he said it did not completely fix the issue. He still gets air in the system. I wouldn't waist time and money trying to figure out a fix for this issue. The best solution IMO is a quick bleed through the master whenever you feel a mushy clutch. Takes less than 5 minutes.

I have the stock set up and have found between bleeding every 500 km and replacing the fluid with Motol the problem (just syringing out the old stuff) has gone away.

Holding the lever back is a clever idea. No leaks? I'd just bleed it and see how often the problem reoccurs.

Did a quick bleed (3min including finding the tools) after the lever sat tied to the bar overnight. Put on 300mi of twisties today. I'm just going to STFU and live with this. If it makes sense I think the lever feels firmer after bleeding with the Oberon installed than it felt with the stock slave.

:DThe Dragon Lady is a whisker below 20 000 km and it had not been necessary to bleed her clutch once yet...

CNC on the Tri. No problems at all. More than 4000km. I do bleeding because I like that kind of work, but it wasn't really required (by bleeding on both line ends I incrementally replace the fluid over time).
Oberon: On MV, 1200S, SL. No problems.
But I had an issue with the brembo master cylinder on the 1200S last week. Thought it's the slave cylinder. My mechanic confinced me to replace the master cylinder with a second hand one, just to try. Problems have gone since then. Obviously Brembo is not that perfect in manufacturing precision. Problem started to occur after ca. 3000km caused by internal leak in the master cylinder.

hard to believe you're not aware of the clutch bleed ritual - short and sweet it is this:

-- best solution is to bleed the clutch - make it part of your garage routine when you check the oil, tire pressure etc...or carry an 11mm open end along for your ride (don't forget a paper towel) :)

Replaced fluid with motul 600 seemed to get better 1000mi with no problem going to bleed again this weekend see if any air all stock 1199 standard

We replaced the standard brake fluid with Brembo Racing brake fluid about 2 months and 3000 miles ago and it has completely eliminated the need to bleed the clutch regularly.

I'm still using the stock slave cylinder.

That is the first I have ever heard of an idea actually solving the problem - "bravo" if indeed it works !

Stayed clear so far.

The thinking behind this is that the routing of the line from the master cylinder down to the slave cylinder runs right next to the motor-so the fluid gets cooked-so a fluid with a higher boiling point (and a higher price point) can take the heat.

So far it works.

Can someone post a pic of the o ring that wraps around the plastic slave piece that comes off of the stock and goes onto the Oberon? When I replaced mine the stock o-ring was way too big, as if off a completely separate slave.

I had some issues at about 5000km and pulled the slave off and gave the inside a polish with a light compound reassembled and put Motul RBF600 Dot 4 fluid back in. Used a dremel to spin the polisher. It has not been an issue since. I remember it was the advice of someone on here to just give the std slave a good clean. Draining out all the old fluid and doing a complete flush does take some time. But as someone else has said I like fiddling around with the bike when I have time. Crank up some tunes, then have a beer at the end of it. :) Speaking of oil, just bought 4L of Shell Advance 4T Ultra at my dealer to do an oil change, $89 ouch.
