Akra Exhaust Sound & Video clips

Its funny to read different opinions on here... I have never previously bought Termis for my bikes.. for the 1199 I did (slips).. Not cheap as we know ..although I got mine at a really good price.. Having installed them I can honestly say it has improved the bike immensely.. Are they louder than stock?? Barely.. But the volume isn't the point really..the 3 differences to me are as follows..

1. No silly flapper castrating and suffocating the bike
2. A deeper more throaty sound.. Not really louder but definitely sweeter
3. Noticeably smoother and better performance..fueling is great...

Is this worth the price??? I guess that's each individuals decision...

Ok, the slips are reasonably priced so I'll go listen to them in person. That should definitely help me make up my mind. :)

If you can.. ride a bike with them.. as I say.. to me it isnt just about the sound... :)

Was it just my speakers or does the Akra make the 1199 sound like a 2 stroke?

Can someone kindly post the AR sound clip again - hard to find in the 30+ pages of that thread!!

Gains were posted quite a while back by Xbox:

Just to compare here is a dyno of my 1199 BASE (6,000km ish, 2012) with stock exhaust and the ducati up-map. No AFM because it was just a dyno day and they didn't have time to plug the sensor into the exhaust

Right now AR seems to be best - they were putting about 10 on top along with good increases in low and mid range. Akra increases the mid range but there is hardly any top range increase.

I will stick with the Full Termi system. IMHO I have not seen better performance (185 HP) from any other system. Not to mention the support you get from Ducati. (like fixing the heat issue, upmap updates and it seems to me that its still cheaper than anything else so far.

+1

Having run Akrapovic systems for many years, I decided to go with the full Termi systems on the 1199 for the same reasons ScrapperX mentioned. They are not cheap, but when you consider the support provided by Ducati they are well worth it. With any other system you will have to factor in tuning and replacement of any fairings or shields that get toasted.

Thus far, I've had two lower fairings, 1 upmap and 1 heat shield replaced with a new designed heat shield on the way (according to another thread). All this included in the price of admission.

IMHO, Akrapovic is the best alternative if for some reason you don't want Termi. I'm not a fan of it but AR has developed an "interesting" system though good luck getting it on any UK trackdays

The sound of the AR is great, very aggressive.

My Termi slip-ons at full bore are pretty awesome too.

I really look forward to seeing the first bike with belly pan and exhaust fitted (I'm leaning towards the single slash) and the perhaps it will tip me over the edge!

every exhaust is nice but boring to me except the AR system....i bought this bike and many other previous Ducat's to be different...now its time to take that same reasoning toward an exhaust.....AR it is

+1. When you're dropping thousands on an exhaust the last thing it should be is boring. If I ever take the plunge it'll be for AR.

i agree...i thought i like the termis until i saw the AR....then i sold my full termis lol...also didnt like how termi released another system wit the R...i took that as Termi admitting the first version couldve been better or they made an error in development.....not cool
